Awesome 👏
Bye, bye.
Best first post ever!
Best post all week 😁
Hi Guys, thank you.. Newbie here as you may have guessed.
Won’t let me post then suddenly did! Anyways I’ll try again.
Recently bought a new submariner from a non AD off chrono24,to add to the Collection.
Turns out it’s import from Canada. I’ve heard a rumour that when it’s time to service it Rolex check if the import tax was paid. If not then they hold seize the watch and customs contact you for the unpaid duty.
Anyone had an expense of this?
Thank you.

Yes, could be an illegal watch and an expense.
How on earth could Rolex check to see if taxes have been paid on an individual watch after it’s initial sale ?
You send in your warranty card with the watch so I presume its checked then?

Nonsense in my view. Rolex have enough going on without acting for world revenue collectors.

You will be fine. Rolex happily adjusted the strap on my non-eu purchase without the need to prove I paid the VAT (I actually had anyway)
This is a world-wide warranty; RSJ will, inter alia, be dealing with Canadians getting their watch serviced as well as UK people with Canadian watches. Can’t see how they could/would distinguish.
Are you planning on sending your passport and birth certificate plus any residency documents too ?
Look at it from the other side how will Rolex know you are not Canadian?
Absolute rubbish. They can’t check if any taxes were paid. They don’t have the authority to access customs records.

Good points made. It was a dealer who told me of this and had heard of this happening. I’m not going to loose sleep over it. Guess I’ll find out when I send it in years down the line.

Sounds like a fair trade to me. At least you'd have fewer problems with the Daytona than you would with a child!

The AD is my child's mother.
