Thread: Tudor P01

    Tudor P01

The P01 appears to be the marmite of the watch world at the minute.
Thankfully I'm a marmite kind of guy.
I've taken off the stock strap and fitted a strap made from my old vintage Asprey briefcase.

Are there any other P01 owners on here? do you love it as much as me?

I'm not even a big watch wearer its usually 39mm tops for me but this watch wears so good for a big watch.

I hope these pictures capture whats great about this watch.

When these first came put I thought they were hideous. Then saw a couple in the metal. They look great! But you need to handle one to know. Imho they need an official rubber option

I’ve got one and love it.

yes it’s big, yes it’s ugly but you have to love the boldness of design and uniqueness.

“yes it’s big, yes it’s ugly” just about covers it for me.

That said, those that like it should enjoy it!

I tried one on in Harrods whilst picking up my Harrods Black Bay on Wednesday, last one in stock and even had the ok from the wife but could not justify dropping another 3k. I did really like it and might go there in the future though.

It's the only Tudor I like. Just wish they offered it with a white dial.

Didn’t like them when they came out tried one on a few weeks ago and I really liked it, I was however confused as to why they’d put a suede strap on a dive watch with no rubber option

I trundled into mappin and web in Glasgow pre lockdown - when this was a little harder to find - and they happened to have one in the safe. I tried it on but i just had to give it up as too big.

I love it’s looks. It’s got real character. Great watch, just a shame (for me) it didn’t really fit.

It looks great on that strap.

Is the deployant from the watch or another? It looks similar to the one with my Ranger (which I now stash in the box so I can use a Steveo canvas NATO)

That's the thing that really puzzles me... it's a kind-of-custom strap in that it's for a lug-to-lug of (being flippant) several metres, but the only option is leather? Then again the bezel is dual-time style not a proper divers' bezel so maybe they don't regard it as that and therefore don't market the straps for it.

I mean, I quite like the look of it but it's a very oddball piece.

    Looking at them
Might get one this week don't tell the wife 😁

I saw one in a window the other day, to be fair, never really looked at one but my feeling on it was Wow.

It’s on the right side of different for me, cool looking object and I think it is something that when it is gone, it will start to be desired.

    Very interesting watch.

Initially I wasn’t so sure, but seeing these in real life, I think they look quite good. Having something slightly unusual is cool rather than a standard sub-a-like.

Thanks for the pictures of a great watch. I do not have a P01 yet but would love to pick one up at some point. It’s unusual and strange in a way that really appeals to me - it’s distinctive and unlike anything else out there, but still manages to me to be enough of a cousin to a classic tool watch to appear handsome rather than gauche. Really an interesting piece.

Love it on the Asprey briefcase strap, too.

    Agreed. A real collectors item.
As soon as I saw it "in the flesh" at Baselworld last year I loved it and, because of its' quirky nature, you knew it would divide opinion.
And you do wonder how many they will make and for how long.....

Nice piece! Not something I’d personally wear but I can appreciate it.

Like what you did with the strap - looks cool!

It’s great to see a few more being swayed by its distinctive design, it broke the 2 main rules I had about buying a watch.

    1. Vintage
    2. 39mm or under

I saw images when it was released and thought it was ugly, I got to try it on in Goldsmiths and fell in love with it.

Like many at first, I wondered what strain of crack Tudor were smoking, but it very quickly warmed to me.

For its wacky looks and quirkiness, it was a no brainer to add to the collection. It doesn't get worn too much as I find the deployant very uncomfortable as it digs in the wrist a little and rubber is not ideal in this climate. I'm currently looking for an alternative strap as I do want to give it a bit more wrist time.

Think it looks awful on a strap with those adapter things, like bits of bracelet left behind.

I’ve put it on a tropic it now looks a lot more like the prototype.

When I buy one, I’m going to change the hand set to the original merc hand set.
    Then it’ll look perfect imo.

The "Rolex" with the merc hands was a fake.

I thought it was the prototype.
It still does look better though.

    Edit.

Just realised that you actually meant Rolex watch.

I don’t mind the watch. Just don’t like the - what the hell are they - endlinks? Just weird sea of metal somehow turning into leather. Just all too odd for me

Ah, got it. I wondered if the whole luch mechanism came off so you could mount a strap direct to the watch head. Would the bezel turn unhindered if that happened or can you simply not take them off?

For those wanting a bracelet ive found this on the rolex forum, looks like they have had to engineer there own centre link connection.

I tend to prefer divers on Tropics , or isofranes but this watch looks so much better on a bracelet IMO

Would the bracelet not eventually get pretty scratched up under the metal part of the case? Think the tropic strap suits this watch pretty well.
