    Ruislip GTG

No firm plans in mind but as an expression of interest, anyone interested in a meet up around the Ruislip area?
A few drinks or a meal? I know there are a few members around here. Let me know and if there's a want, I'll sort something.

Sounds good. After work might be a bit difficult but a Friday night or weekend would be easier.

I’d be up for that. Better arrange it before we’re all on lockdown, though

Good point! Hadn't thought of that.
We'll get some numbers together and see what's best to do. I've heard they are planning a wall around Ruislip to keep the diseased out so we should be OK!

Once we've set up this expression, Members will be required to attend other, less desirable GTG's. Then, after a few years, they may be invited to join the list to wait for a place on this one. They must turn up covered in stickers that will be removed before they can leave though.

    Interest here depending on dates.

Incidentally I was in CS Bedford (AD on the High Road) the other day and they have a good array of watch stock. Notably a sizable Seiko display but also Longines, Ball, Corum and a nice used selection. Maybe worth a visit on the way through.

I know them quite well so was going to ask if they could host us all for an hour or so to see what they've got. Once a date is firmed up, I'll speak to them.

I know Rob as well. It may be worth dropping Howard/hhhh a line, though, as they’re very good mates.

I could do this Saturday if that works out for others. I think depending on time a few of us might use it as a good excuse for a mini ride on the bikes.

Spoke to Rob and he's ok to have us there this Sat. I'll see who else confirms then make a plan from there. Assuming it doesn't end in a drunken mass brawl, I'm sure we can make it a semi regular meet up for those that's can't make it this time.
As Martyn said also, he'll do 20% off for forum members so if you're in a buying mood, bring your credit card!

    We could combine the two?
    Might confuse the kids though...

Killed with a Seiko diver in the boutique

If nothing else Dave - maybe worth gathering the numbers for a WA group to arrange offline and then see if anyone else here wants to join?

Likewise; known them for over 30 years & was in the other day. Rob mentioned the GTG; unfortunately I'm busy this week but keep me in mind if it moves to another date as I'm often in West London.

..along with watches they have sorted me out 2 sets of engagement and wedding rings; they have offered me a good for a third set but I think I've learnt my lesson (twice)!!

I don't know whether this GTG happened, but the Murder Mystery Party for the girls certainly did. A splendid time was had by all and it turned out that the timing was fortuitous.

Painton Place is an 18th-Century house built by Sir John Painton, the first baronet, in Rutting-on-the-Rise, a beautiful if isolated corner of Norfolk. It's just the place to spend a couple of days on a cooking holiday - a weekend mini-bake, as it's advertised. But the rural tranquility is shattered when celebrity chef Francis 'Franny' Craddock is found dead late on Saturday night. Particularly when it turns out that he's been murdered.

Suspicion falls on the guests. But who would have wanted to kill him? And what does this have to do with the legendary Painton Plunder, supposedly brought back from India by the eccentric fourth baronet, Sir Richard Painton?

Yes it did, smaller numbers but hopefully looking to make it more a regular thing as and when we can in the future 👍

Sorry! Forget about this thread, life has taken somewhat of a turn since then!

As Bluebird said, smaller than expected due to a couple of people self isolating but a good time. Hour or so in Bedfords, then a couple of drinks followed by a meal. Won’t be saying that sentence again for a while :(

Once the dust has settled, we’ll do another for sure.

Yes, it was really good to meet some of you. While we had very few attendees, it was certainly a good call to go ahead despite the short notice as we don’t know when the next one will be possible.
