    The Kurono Calendrier 'Type I'

The Kurono Calendrier 'Type I' is available to pre-order right now. Anyone else ordering one? I like the look of it and have had an order confirmed in the last minute or two.

    That's rather nice, isn't it?

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I'm glad they've done something different this time.

I have a Bullseye branded "Chrono Tokyo" and I love it but even I was getting a bit jaded with the brand.

Really like the coin edged bezel on this one.

Resonances of the Patek 6119 but with added complications and a more modest price tag! Great size too. Looking forward to seeing it in the autumn.

I hate not to be enthusiastic

I had a Toki last year, and was enthusiastic right up to the point I had it in my hands. I felt it was a £500 watch at triple the money, and I flipped it pretty sharpish.

This looks nice enough, but an industrially finished Miyota movement for an extra month subdial? At £1800 with VAT, there is quite a lot of compelling competition.

Nice enough, but I think there is quite a hype / FOMO dimension.

Sorry to be less than gushing

It's great to hear all opinions! I absolutely take your points on board. However, I think that the limited run and the general 'appreciation' of the brand make this a low risk opportunity. I'll post some pictures when the watch arrives. I'm particularly curious about the dial colour which I found difficult to fully get a handle on from the press pictures. I'm hoping that it is a dark green olive colour. We'll see!

While these watches are not for me, I really like the direction they've taken - from an outsider's POV these have an unabashedly Japanese look and feel to them, and it would be kind of stupid not to use a Japanese movement - indeed, only vain snobbery would preclude it.
They're carving a niche for distinctive products that the big Japanese names lack the courage to produce much of.
In a world where certain heavily-marketed mass-produced SS watches have spiralled up to £10K+++ these look good VFM if you appreciate something thoughtful, well-executed and genuinely rare.
    More power to them.

Just to update, paid the import taxes and the watch arrived yesterday. I haven't got around to opening it all up yet but will post some pictures in due course.

Interesting article in the FT about this watchmaker a few days ago:
