Unfortunately as it was an LE of 500 it looks like you have to pay 100% over retail if you want one.

    Bloody lovely thing though.
You’ll need to deep pockets to snag one now. Last one I saw for sale in the Uk was at WF for I think £13.5k.

If this is right one, might make this a good price then!

That’s the right one. Is it definitely in the Uk? I can’t work it out because it suggests a German mobile number.

I keep coming back to your posts. I genuinely love your strap collection, especially the distressed canvas ones. Where do you get them? I have a 1313, want to add a couple to swap out, especially for the summer.

The heavily distressed canvas ones are from outlaw straps in SA. He regularly posts on the FB Panerai groups, and is a good guy to deal with. I have also used corrigia for a less distressed look, but they do patina well, look nicely aged after a time. Tbh corrigias customer service leaves a bit to be desired, and he has got mega expensive imho.
And here is that last strap popped into my latest arrival. PAM 25.

Do any of you fine forumites know if the PAM00914 came with both open and closed casebacks? C24 seems to show both but without any difference in reference to differentiate the two.
If it's only available with a closed caseback, do you know of a Luminor model very similar to the 914, but with open caseback?

    • 44mm
    • Sandwhich dial
    • No date
    • Aged lume
    • Preferably 3,6,9,12 (no small seconds), but would if nothing else comes close
    • Polished steel

    914 for reference -

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jon,

I am not enough of an expert to know specifically for that reference but it happens with Panerai references that some changes happen without altering the reference of the model. Would be worth checking the years of production, if you can see both open and solid casebacks for the 914, it is possible they may have started with one type of caseback and then switched to another from a said year.

In the same spirit, the alternative I can think of, even though it doesn’t have the aged lume, is one I have, the 560, which has an open caseback.
That being said, depending on the year, you can find both 560s with sandwich dials (earlier production) and with painted dials (later ones).
So yes, might be that the 914 was produced with both (assumption)

Thanks for the response. That was also my initial thought, but the reference has only been arround since 2021 and the earliest as well as latest can be seen with a solid case back.

I’ve also just found a 2020 with an open caseback, so there doesn’t seem to be a theme.

    No mention of modification either.

I’m really starting to appreciate how Panerai look, having a small wrist I’m really interested in the Luminor Quaranta PAM01370/1371/1372 40mm. I’ve not seen much posted on the forums, does anyone have any experience?

Photos would also be appreciated, would love to see them on a number of different straps.

I always find this is where instagram is good. That’s where I go when I’m researching a reference.

This is my old 49 a 40 mm bettarini case, which was my first PAM. IMHO it is great on canvas, rubber, NATO and leather. Versatile watch.

My daily wearer for the past 11 years, battered and abused, but still my favourite. Desperately needs a service though!
