    Help identifying vintage Omega

    Hi All

A friend's son has just lost/had stolen a vintage Omega that was a gift from his father and, in order to find a suitable replacement, wondered if a model number or name could be provided. I'm no expert on older Omegas despite having owned a few. I believe it may be a Constellation of some sort. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry to hear about his loss

Not a Constellation Im afraid, looks like a manual movement of some type. If it was an automatic it would be written on the dial.

I cant help with case ref but it looks to me like a late 50s or 60s watch. If you can get any info from any service documents case ref, movement number this would help you alot with a like for like replacement.

Some of the more experienced members will probably be able to give you alot more info , but there were a lot of these made with various calibers over the decades and it wont be easy to give exact details

Have you got any more pics ?

Lord knows how I managed to blog this reply but.....

Thank you for the replies so far. Looking at cal. 265s, would that make the model a Tresor?

Not necessarily a 265, but it does look a cal 30T2 derivative so could be any of the 26X series, they range from 261 to 269:

looks very similar to a DeVille Tresor:

There is one that looks virtually identical on Chrono24: https://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/ome...-id9514464.htm

The Omega website has a vintage Omega section in it that I found useful in identifying my Mum's old Omega - can be found here: https://www.omegawatches.com/media/c...-2894-list.jpg

Try asking Alex Barter at Black Bough. He may even be able to help source a replacement.

Once again, thanks to all those who replied. Your feedback has been, as always, very appreciates indeed. I have passed everything on to my friend in order to help him source a replacement. In the meantime, I may put up a WTB for a cal 265.

    Thank you!

I already pointed out above that the 265 is part of the 26X Family of around 7 similar movements. Note that the Tresor shown above which looks just like it uses the 267 variant.

Hi. I certainly did take that into consideration, thank you. I just didn't want to over-complicate the issue for my friend's son and a quick google for the 265 calibre seemed to produce plenty of similar looking watches, which is all he'll be worried about - he's not a WIS and subtle variations won't be of concern to him. Thank you for the help.
