Probably bought around 50 bottles over the last couple of years as there was a lot I wanted to try. Below are the regular wearers I’d rate 8 or over-

    Spring summer day

    Ferrari Bright Neroli
    Ferrari Noble fig
    A&F first instinct

    Spring summer night

    Mont Blanc legend spirit
    Azzaro chrome pure

    Autumn winter day

    YSL Y Parfum

    Autumn winter night

    Perry Ellis M

    Out with wife

    Guerlain L’homme ideal EDP

    Out with lads

    Versace Eros

So yeah, a little bit over the top. Can’t stress enough how good those Ferrari’s are for the price. Noble fig being better than anything Aqua Di Parma have to offer.

I’ve always liked Mont Blanc Legend, but their new Explorer is fantastic, well worth sniffing out; and yes it even reminds me of Adventus Creed and lasts really well. About £72 for 100ml. Great stuff.

For true aftershave, stick with the experts.

Geo F Trumper make some superb, more traditional and remarkably refined aftershaves. Their store in Mayfair is an absolute treasure trove.

Away from the shaving pros, I'm a man for Narcisco Rodriguez. Yet to know anyone else who's ever heard of it. Thus my signature scent.

They did a sent a few years ago that the girls in the office must of bought 12 bottles each to stock up on, to this day they still moan about not buying more.

It's a brand that's known, just not by the everyday person.

Not a million miles from my own experience a few years ago, which was gratitude tainted by frustration that people passing through Abu Dhabi airport saw fit to buy me one bottle as a "saw this and thought you might want some" but just the one bottle.

Tried Roja Danger in Harrods on Wednesday... Bloody lovely stuff, but at £250 for 50ml they can keep it.

I got some of this delivered today. I also have the real thing, but it's running out so I thought I'd take a punt.

I honestly can not tell the difference, and a quick sniff test by SWMBO corroborates this.

I also got 20% off following a previous purchase, so £28 for 50ml of Aventus is excellent VFM

For info, their Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud clone is pretty bob-on too !

Acqua di Parma Colonia & their Oud are some of my favourites.

Keeping with the watch theme, Omega Aqua Terra EDT is also a regular amd gets quite a lot of positive comments.

I have a new favourite, its called ‘Greenhouse’
a Vetiver and Laurel mix with bits of peat, cactus and leather plus a few others.

all created by myself with a bit of help of a qualified perfumer at Mo61 in Warsaw (they also have a shop in Grasse) you basically tell them what you like, and they they place a few jars in front of you and you smell the glass stoppers as the jars themselves are often too pungent, one of them made me recoil in horror as it was like smelling salts.
they slowly add ingredients and if you don’t like something they dilute it down by adding back what you do like until you are happy.
you test it on your skin as the formula develops.
they also know what base notes to add or if you need something at the top.
I knew a bit about perfume so asked a few questions as we went along, the perfumer really liked what we created.
you name it and they type the label up on a typewriter and then put the formula on a card with your name so you can re-order.

they have some premixed house scents, some of which are quite off the wall like ‘fog’, ‘Take me to the church’ (yes it smells of a old church)
She gave me a sample of this with added Vetiver and Tourbe (soil/turf)

a very memorable experience and well worth the price.

I had a sample from the Floris shop. My other half loved it initially but after a while it has that baby powder/soapy scent that is common to lots of older fragrances.

Just a little update on this one. I know a few members have used the services of Palmolive on the Basenotes forum for various split deals.

Since my last purchase Palmolive has improved the packaging and you now receive the fragrance in a clear dumpy bottle as shown below:

I get asked what I am wearing a lot. I would feel uncomfortable saying Creed Aventura when it was a copy. Do you say I'm wearing a fake Creed Aventus?

Is it any difference to wearing a fake Rolex. Looks like one, will convince others it's one but it isn't one.

    In price order ...

    Creed Viking
RL Polo Green (long term favourite)
    Ted Baker

It was a toss up between the two and will probably try Aventus next time when the Viking runs out. Can’t justify having two bottles of Creed on the go at the same time.

I got some Fleur D’orangeur for Xmas, and If anyone is a fan of Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford, I can recommend this Zara fragrance as smelling exactly the same to me.

I got the 40ml bottle for Xmas, but I’ve just been and bought the 90ml (Zara are notorious for discontinuing frags or them not being available everywhere, like the original Vibrant Leather Aventus-alike)

    £15.99 for 40ml, £25.99 for 90ml.

You may be surprised (as I was) to learn that Jo Malone is behind this fragrance.

This is a very good NP smell-a-like (and lasts a lot longer than the Tom Ford version).
