    kate Bush

Shock! Horror! Kate Bush broke cover on Womans Hour this am. Did a 15 min interview about her recent belated success.

I`m just happy if she knocked some fake poser like Harry Styles off the No 1 spot.

    She's lovely.

I was at a David Gilmour solo gig at the Festival hall when quite unannounced she appeared, did a song with DG then disappeared again like the ethereal being she is.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Amen to that.

Even when he was still on X factor his overdone actions were grating on me. He now seems to be everywhere and I would really rather he wasn’t.

I believe he was instrumental in launching her career so perhaps she attributes some of her success to him.

She's a genius. Not many will achieve what's she's done.
Singer, dancer, producer, composer, musician. She could sell out large venues for weeks.
I like the way she keeps that mysterious 'air' about her.

    I adore Kate Bush.
Have done since the early eighties.
    So so talented.
I’m delighted a new generation will get to love her too.

I was there also. Amazing to hear her doing comfortably numb; plus the bonus of the late Rick Wright appearing.

The most amazing thing for me is that some of her incredible music was composed in her teens. Here's one she wrote at the age of 13.

I have The Kick Inside. Don't even recall when I bought it, but more than 30 years ago

Recorded in '77 and David Gilmore produced 2 of the songs

I agree with everything above - personally speaking the babooshka video was a bit of an obsession in my very early teens - the definition of hot imho!!!

No. She is very talented but sane as a errr University of Frogs.

She is not on the Bjork or Sinead scale. She transcends, she is sublime.

It's great that youngsters are now discovering her music.

As a teenage boy I was in love with Kate (& Stevie Nicks) in the late 70's / early 80's

I have all Kates records & the 2014 performance I went to with my wife & friends was one of the very best experiences ever.

I remember seeing her on Pebble Mill at one as a teenager.

I thought she was incredibly talented, but mildly bonkers and not my cup of tea.

While my musical tastes are far more catholic these days, I've not changed my mind on Ms. Bush.

He handed her tapes into EMI

Kate’s a ledge! A brief interview on woman’s hour, but I’m delighted that she’s pleased that a new generation has been reached

I’ve been trying to persuade my 14 year old to listen to other stuff from her, but I’m not getting any bites yet!

Gilmour paid for proper recordings which got her the gig with EMI, home of Pink Floyd. Also she got Steve o Rourke, Pink Floyd manager and some sound business knowledge. She would renegotiate her contract to allow music release only when she wanted. A very rare commodity. Pink Floyd had it. Spent her money on her own studio so she could record as/when without time pressures. Also owned her publishing. Some v.astute dealings for a teenager.

Every record collection should have a copy of The Red Shoes (a wonderful album), and yes, as mad as a box of frogs, but a brilliant musician.

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

A brilliant musician and an absolute perfectionist. I've been a fan since she first appeared on TOTP with Wuthering heights.
    I don't think she's at all bonkers.

If She can go on stage knowing Kylie and Madonna are in Her audience I think it’s safe to say She has something special.

If I am correct then this is a song about a woman getting pounded in her ringpiece whilst wanting to make a deal with god to swap places with her partner, so they can both feel what each other feels when they both blow their loads?

It doesn't hurt me. Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
    You, it's you and me.

    If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
    Be running up that road,
    Be running up that hill,
    Be running up that building.
    If I only could, oh

You don't want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
    Unaware I'm tearing you asunder.
Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts.

Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
    You, you and me.
It's you and me won't be unhappy.

    If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
    Be running up that road,
    Be running up that hill,
    Be running up that building,
    If I only could, oh

    C'mon, baby, c'mon darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
    C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
    Let's exchange the experience, oh

    And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
    Be running up that road,
    Be running up that hill,
    With no problems.

    If I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
    Be running up that road,
    Be running up that hill,
    With no problems.

    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill
    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill

    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill
    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill

    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill
    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill
    If I only could,
    Be running up that hill

    The Sensual World, great album.
I urge anyone who hasn’t heard it or The Red Shoes to give them a listen.

The video to This Woman’s Work is quite brilliant.

The “Ninth Wave” in it’s entirety is one of my favourite pieces of music.
