Thread: What do you drive?

    Re: What do you drive?

Ironically, that (a 1969 VW beetle) was my first car. Not sure I'd fancy one now, but fun.

Posted on this thread a while ago but changes have been afoot

Having had the Lexus RX for 3 years and getting fed up of 19mpg  I'm in a Mercedes C220 CDi now and loving it. Goes well, flappy paddles etc and still returns average 36mpg :)

For the everyday i have MY 10 Black Toyota Avensis, a rather capable car and good workhorse just 90K in two years.

For that special occasion i have a MY 05 Porsche 911 997 Carrera 2. Which is absolutley fantastic and the noise it makes from the sports exhaust is something else. Although it may get the chop if find a garage to put something a bit more exotic (Italian) in.

Still rocking the B5 RS4 - only now it's running 540bhp and 515lb/ft with launch control and flat shift. Getting back into trackdays again now (at the expensive of any interest in watches!)

Love it, love it, love it!!

Could be good Jon - top fun, but I suspect not good for the life of the car?

very nice baradona......whats it like to drive.....have been tempted.......but have been threatened by the mrs that the next "supercar" must be a four seater lol

    What do you drive?

I couldn't love it much more - I live in London, work silly hours, have a girlfriend who doesn't really 'get' cars (it didn't help that I got this one on her birthday), but have still done 16k miles in 17 months! Mountain passes, open roads, cross-country, you name it it laps it up. Highly, highly recommended. Could be a little more raw on occasion but as a package it's unbeatable.

Appreciating fine things is of course different to getting cars, I'm told :-)

Every day cars are a Honda Civic and a Disco 3.
I've just bought the wife a Mk1 MX5 and I've become quite smitten with it.

    Watch pic in car

I've also just picked this up for a little fun

2007 Mercedes C200 diesel auto. A good blend of comfort, class, prestige, relaibility, price and running cost. It's hopeless, of course, if performance is one of your most important criteria but it suits my somewhat laid-back driving style and has enough performance to easily keep up with the traffic flow.

If I want a couple of hours fast motoring there's a 1000cc Honda in the garage, with performance that only the most expensive cars can get near.

I want one of these! I know it's not much to aspire to but I like the idea of something very sensible with excellent fuel economy. I don't need it yet but suspect I will do in a year or two.

No, post away. There's a wide range of cars amongst the membership (same as our watches), don't be put off by the prestige marques.

This is what I'm realistically likely to end up with rather than the 520d.

I hope the handbrake doesn't fail, especially with a patient in back!

Very nice foursome. You might want to replace your number plates before the next MoT though, you can barely read them :)

Did a VMax event recently (2 mile straight @ Bruntingthrope) and clocked 187mph through the trap - not bad for a 120k mile 12 year old estate :)

I drive this during the week and in the rain etc...

And this if its ever sunny, as the tyres don't work in the rain or cold...!

Pic is from the top of the Stelvio pass. Not the most relaxing drive I've ever made.
