How about this? Haven't tested them though.
Morning guys.
I know it must be boring, but I have tried, honest! Could some kind soul possibly turn these two pics into an avatar acceptable size for me?
I would be ever so grateful.
Cheers
Andy

Cheers for that ,it seems to be the right size but itīs still over 12kb, I think it needs to be 6kb at most.
Maximum dimensions; width: 120 pixels, height: 80 pixels, file size: 6kB.

Please don't hotlink these. If you're using them on tz-uk as your avatar then it should be fine as tz-uk copies them from the URL to its own database, but rehost them on imageshack/similar if you're going to use them elsewhere.
Sorted! I thank you sir.
can someone explain to me in very simple terms :D how to put in an avtar i would like my little friend sprout in there how do i do it? thanks
Andy

Thanks Dave he is a dude :D
All I know is, you click on User Control Panel, then click on Profile, then on Edit Avatar, then you browse your PC or an external file host and post the picture, if itīs the right size, of course.Originally Posted by andy armitage
It just says it's not the right size, so of course that's me stumped then :D
I have resized it in photobucket but i still don't know how to do it
I'm following this with interest. I have resized my photo to 120x80, but it's still 33Kb at the lowest quality setting (in Photoshop). So, I'm interested as to how one gets the file size down to 6Kb, without reducing the size of the photo any further.
I though I was quite 'with it' as far as techy stuff goes, obviously I'm nowhere near it! :(
I think you'd then have to resave it in a lower quality?Originally Posted by jukeboxs

In Photoshop you should use the normal save feature, save as JPEG, and enable "preview". This gives you an accurate file size as you move the JPEG quality slider between 1 and 100. For the two images above I think the JPEG quality was around 90 which is still relatively high.Originally Posted by jukeboxs
There are various alternatives. One is The Gimp, which is free. In that, it's as simple as opening the image, using the Image Resize option to resize the image appropriately then saving the image as a JPEG and enabling preview to work out what quality you need to use to get the right file size.
Thanks guys, I'll give that a go and let you know. Anything to avoid studying!
Don't have photoshop i have it on my computer and in photobucket..oh well it was a good idea at the time :D
I need help as I'm starting to get frustrated!
Now I have no problem resizing images and reducing the file size normally but for some reason today its just not happening! I have tried uploading from my machine as well as from my Fotki account. I've also tried more than one image and even 'borrowing' a users avatar, all to no avail. Any ideas?
This is the image I want to use: (Or rather part of it)
I even tried a tiny (60px X 60px) imagine which had just four unique colours and nada, nothing, zip :?
Hi Andy & Zen
If you have ol' Windows Paint->Open file->Image->Resize/Skew->On resize box (H&V) put 10% instead of 100%->Save As/Save As type 24 bit bitmap.
That should do.
How's that?
