Those of us with Marathon steel Navigator watches know that the snap-on back is really hard to remove. The same applies to the Gallet-made GG-W-113.
I've just posted my method on my blog for anyone who doesn't have the correct tool. There's also a shot of the Harley Ronda 373 stem release button.

I have just removed the back from the same watch useing a Seiko type case opener held in the hand and given a sharp rap with a small mallet.

This tool only cost £3.50 I would think this is money well spent rather than one marred or ruined case.
I will put it back together with a proper case closer.
Good correct tools cost nothing in the long run.
How many watches have you seen destroyed incorrect opening techniques.
Good idea but is it realy worth it???
