I'm off tomorrow so I'm sipping a couple of fingers, or 6  , of Glenmorangie 10 yr old (I'm out of the 18, which is a special order and costs 4 times more!) Actually forgot how enjoyable the 10 was! :drunken: and I decide to watch Mama Mia. It is an Abba based musical staring Pierce if you missed it last year. This guy can not sing to save his life. I can sing better than he can. Seriously, WTF? It's a musical for christ's sake. Really awful.
I did enjoy the movie though.

Love music and love movies, but imho the two should never become a musical. The story should be good enough to hold your attention and music should add to it, but the main charecters should not randomly burst in to song. Mamma Mia is the classic example, poor story but with Abba songs spooned into to it everyone thinks its great, added to that you have rubbish singers singing them why!!!!!
Even proper musicals annoy the Feck out of me,
but the clips I've seen of this - it's just some random celebs doing cheesy ABBA karaoke.
Shet, Shet, Shet....
Haven*t seen it yet, thanks for the warning.
Remember "I was born under a wandering star"?, so bad it was good, and sold a lot of records (a Christmas no. 1)
Is this even worse than that?
It's not just Pierce Brosnan who's terrible - Julie Walters and Meryl Streep are absolutely dire too. It seems incredible to me that they cast completely tone deaf actors in a musical.
The only one in it who can hold a tune is the young girl - she's also quite tasty!
I haven't seen Mama Mia (and hope I never will) but I'm not surprised Brosnan can't sing. The useless git can't speak properly either - in Evelyn (if you haven't watched it, don't!) he does the worst Irish accent I've ever heard in a movie - quite a feat, considering he's Irish...
Musicals are for gays. Period.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
My wife likes musicals and she's not gay!Originally Posted by mr1973

He may sing bad, but you are the one sitting drinking on your own and watching Mama Mia!!
Get a lift put porn on or flip to the boys room!!
You guys are a tough crowd today...
There is nothing wrong with a musical, Hollywood was built on them, though I don't expect a comeback. This was not a great one by a long shot, but perfectly acceptable way to spend a couple of hours. The girl is a cutie as well...
Am I gay if I like the theatre and opera as well? It's a little hard to call in a babysitter and pop up to Broadway to take in a show when my wife is out of town for a week. I'll remember to buy a new Panerai and beat it up on the sidewalk before I take in my next show, so I look more butch.
As for porn, blasting that on the big screen in the home theatre when the kids are sleeping upstairs is not my idea of a relaxing evening.
If you don't see the movie, try to youtube Pierce singing. It is really, really bad. So bad, you have to see it to believe it.
Regards,
Mamma Mia is a brilliant brilliant movie!
Sure, you can sit and pick holes in it all day long if you want to, there's plenty of ammo in there for you to totally destroy it.
Or you can sit back and let the warmth and the joy and the light and the life and the wonderful songs and the beautiful scenery and the great characters and the uplifting story wash over you like sunshine on a summers day and just enjoy it for the total joyfest it really is.
Just depends on your mindset I suppose.
Couldn't resist...  :lol:Originally Posted by Ari
You know, focusing so much on the potential for the gay sexuality of a movie may just mean you need to address issues deep within yourself...
:D :D
I must be a raving Arse Bandit then!!!! My 6 year old watches it ALL of the time, it took about 4 weeks for me to see the whole movie as I kept catching bits of it but its rather good!!
Yes the story is paper thin, and some (most) of the singing is dire but that's not the point, just sit back an enjoy it.
Oh and it seemed to do pretty well at the box office and DVD sales!
Just off to visit my wifes underwear drawer, see you later boys...................
"See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen"
My hat's off to Brosnan for having a go. That must have taken some guts.
It's hard to imagine that miserable scouser who nicked his Aston being able to send himself up like that.
and for the worst Bond - bloody nancy boy
Rod
Always new brosnan was a faggot and that musical pile of crap confirmed it for me.
Bought my at the time girlfriend's mother the movie and soundtrack for her birthday - didn't understand why Pierce wasn't on the soundtrack until I was later forced to watch this atrocity of a musical; he really is laughably horrific!
