Agreed it's a great film Simon and Neeson is very convincing as the tough guy especially at 56.
It's non-stop action with great fight scenes. I loved the fact that Neeson's character depatches each foe with such apparent ease 8)
Hi All,
If you like thrillers then 'TAKEN' is the one for you. Sat and watched it with the wife last night and it is one of the best films I have seen in ages, my heart was beating like mad all the way through.
Liam Neeson is fantastic all the way through, but watch out ........ his hair is annoying, he needs to go grey gracefully.
Cheers

I quite enjoyed it (liked the way the character thought his way through some of the fights), really quite brutal though!

I'm really into action movies, and I enjoyed it.
One of the very few films I've seen lately that is v. fast paced from the very beginning
Alex
So where do I get to see this?

Yeah, the scum that he deals with in that film actually got off pretty light in the main.
Anyone tries that to anyone I know and i'd do the same.
I have no fecking time for traffickers.
Rob.
Saw it last week. I thought it was stunning. Made me psychotic in places,
I am banned from watching Boxing or anything like this with my wife, I get too engrossed and apparently scary according to my wife.
I thought it was better than most of the action/Thriller films I have seen of late, thought Liam played a blinding part.
Oh, I liked it. got a bit carried away there.
I will get me coat.
Just finished. Great stuff, a proper action film :thumbright:Originally Posted by Dapper

Have to say i loved it, it's a Luc Besson written film and i thought it was great that they just blew through the usual plot stuff and getting to know the characters and straight into the action, Liam Neeson showed he can still do the action stuff, even at the age of 56 and did actually pull it off well.

Just watched it off the back of this thread, thanks for the heads up! :thumbleft:
Nice bit of product placement by Aud?i :P
I'd heard bad things - maybe I'll rent it after such praise...
A very simplistic US-centred world view in evidence... "Europe" is dangerous and evil and full of traffickers, and the bad men are balkan.... no wait, the filthy French are complicit! And of course the arabs are behind it all.
Luckily there's one beacon of light out there. No, not a middle aged Irishman, the USA.
Plot-wise it's absurd but I quite enjoyed the action.
Another thumbs up from me, it was a good action film..no more no less
I loved this film right up to the point that Neeson sees his daughter in the booth, and then HATED it. Suddenly the he becomes an invincible ninja, the french secret service become both incompetent and so forgiving he gets home rather than being locked up forever, and of course all the bad guys are mega wealthy Arab sheiks with a penchant for white slaves.
WTF.
And it started SO well.
*weep*
For anyone still interested though, I watched it as an iTunes rental with my laptop fed into the TV, and it was fine - quality was ok too, for a 50" plasma. I thought it might be a bit grainy coming over the internet.
unrealistic but good, exciting film. definitely worth a watch.
As with all such films, the plot collapses as soon as you hold it up to the light, but with disbelief suspended it got top marks from both of us - oddly my wife is quite fond of adrenalised and violent thrillers as long as no-one under the age of 16 is threatened, or looks as though they may be at some point, in which case she refuses to watch any further. Fortunately his daughter was old enough not to trigger the cut-off, so all was well.
I liked the Bourne-style filming, but did find the "boss-fight" at the end a bit predictable - why should the Sheikh's sleazy henchman be the best hand-to-hand fighter in the whole outfit? And yes, of course Neeson's character would actually have spent the next several hundred years after shooting the Sheikh in a cellar on the Quai d'Orsai answering forcefully-put questions. It also seemed a bit Hays Code that the girl who caused all the trouble with her lies and promiscuity bought the farm, while the determined virgin got rescued. On the other hand, shooting the French detective's wife was unusual for this kind of film - I liked the sense that Neeson was not a decent man driven to extremes, but an extreme man otherwise trying to be decent.
OK, watches this on the strength of the review here and have to say I'm very disappointed. Overly simplictic, overly violent, ridiculous resolution, total lack of character development, incongruous plot... the list goes on.
