I don’t know where you live but down here in Somerset has been bright and sunny all day from 0800 right up until this photo was taken at 1845. I even took a pic this morning as it was so nice !!

Pretty much with you on this. Yes, it's been absolutely beautiful in Somerset today.

    Stunning.
Still glorious here too, I've only just come in (admittedly I'm not that far from Somerset as the crow, or rather the seagull flies).

Love the real tropical warmth, each to his/her own, but this perpetual rain and clouds are grinding me down.

Will it ever be warm again?

Football tournament watching my Grandson on Saturday, atrocious conditions however they did win. I had on full water proofs.
Outside the pub afterwards to celebrate, the staff brought us out blankets! Played golf yesterday, soaked during the front nine, one of the four walked in. I stayed out and the weather did improve, almost got warm. 11 degrees at tee off!

    Lovely and sunny today.

The forecast for the coming week is fine too with temperatures in the 20's. That's hot enough for me.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

We don’t have a ☀️ in our forecast across the next 14 days. We got married on 30th June 23 years ago and it rained that day too.

Despite being decent earners and owning a good size four bedroom house in a great area we couldn’t afford a flat in the south.

    That's the payoff I'm afraid.

Hope the weather perks up for you this summer.

Lovely sunny day here today, even managed to wash the car. When the sun shines I love the English countryside.

Gorgeous afternoon here, 24c & having a lager, soaking up the sun. Opposite is this lovely jewellers, don't see shops like this too much these days.
Hope this stays for a while, I love sunny weather, & only 22 more sleeps, then off too a small Greek island where the weather will be perfect as usual.

It is. Thanks matey, me too. Torrential all night again (:

Living in Newcastle / Northumberland is amazing in many ways, just not the weather. We’re never more than 20 minutes from a beach (5 in my case), a National Park or the city of Newcastle. We’re overrun with places of historical importance and natural beauty. We have clean air, very friendly people and affordable houses. So we’re blessed in many ways and yes, there’s a trade off with the weather and access to Europe is limited compared to the south.

The north east has a reputation as being a boomerang region because people always come back no matter where they go in the world.

What, do you think someone may burn themselves on the BBQ?

Over exposure to the sun can be quite serious. Perhaps you hadn’t heard.

Significant UV radiation doesn’t just come with heat.

We are all grown ups to slap a bit of suntan lotion on when needed.

Sometimes, I don’t know how I manage in Spain, Greece etc.

Well I suppose where in the south. I’ve chosen this 2 bed flat in Enfield because it’s somewhere we have friends and it isn’t an amazing area. Two bed / one bath and a bit of a dump TBH. Very average at best. £420k.

In my town we have easy road and rail links to Newcastle, beaches and the Northumberland National Park. We have great amenities and good schools. You can get this brand new detached house, four beds, two en-suite, three bathrooms and a garden in a new estate for just under £400k.

Well the choice is yours. Our 3 bedroom end of terrace is probably worth slightly more but it’s good enough for us. I can see the attraction of living around Newcastle but the climate would be a major issue for me (the one we have in Kent is already taxing enough, thank you very much).
However it’s a choice we made 27 years ago and we’re still fine with it. The safety net of being able to cross the Channel back and go as much south as we fancy is undoubtedly a factor.

In fairness the first one isn’t really Enfield, it’s Bowes Park. Enfield is a borough and a town so it’s hard to gauge. As a borough it is a dump but EN1/EN2 are pretty good.

For 400k on a flat I’d be buying this or venturing further out for a house https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/147194741

Went to help my wife with her boot sale this morning.

We slathered up with sunscreen but the heat was really powerful and uncomfortable all the time we were there.

Too hot for me and was glad to come home.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Sorry I thought you said the south - to me Enfield is north London
Could fall into the English Channel for £100k less

Grew up near Herne Bay & we were always doing last minute holidays to France as a child if the summer was a washout. Schooled in Canterbury & really need to go back and visit both, it’s been 2 decades at least now. On the whole remember warm summers and lots of snow drifts over winter, proper snow, not the rubbish we get these days.

Cloudy but warm motor racing at Thruxton today caught me out somewhat. Never felt burn hot, but clearly caught me as the shower stung a little.

Today was my perfect weather day. It was low to mid 20s all day, no cloud or wind but a bit of haze. I’ve had the dog out late until around 10:40pm and there wasn’t a hint of a cool breeze. That’s what I’d like every day during June, July and August and I could cope with the rest of the year.

I’ve a trip to the Windsor offices, not a long train journey but it will still be hot. Am just glad there is no tube involved.

No idea what the office is like temperature wise, as it’s a new acquisition. I’ve already packed my fan in case it’s a non air conditioned building. I will not be impressed if that is the case.

Not quite brave enough to rock linen trousers meeting new people so will just quietly sweat in jeans!

The Tube in this kind of weather is a special kind of hell. I really don't miss doing that regularly. Over the last few years when I've been in London I've been lucky enough to be a pleasant walking distance from the train station.

In this weather the lizzy line and a 20 minute walk home is much more bearable than the tube for me.
That said today was Amsterdam and back in a day.
It was roasting on site. Not a cloud in the sky. Lucky I get picked up in a Maybach with air con seats the other side. That’s the way to travel in this weather.

    Very nice indeed!

Strangely my driver from Berkshire to Sandbanks for lunch also was wearing a Yachmaster, albeit II version. Clocked within seconds of the door being opened. Wish it had been a Maybach though!
