    The Commuter...

    Liam Neeson
    A man with a past
    In a difficult position
A bad person wants him to do a bad thing
    Threatens his family

You can guess the rest and some of it is utterly ridiculous but it delivers exactly what you expect and is mercifully short.

    Journey into fear 1975

A film with Sam Waterston, Ian Mc Shane, Denis Price, Shelly Winters, Donald Pleasence, Yvette Mimieux and Stanley Holloway. I can't believe what I've just seen, Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy shouting at the screen. Amazed any of these actors ever worked again.

    Atlas on Netflix. Absolutely shite.

Also, the latest Planet of the Apes. Left the cinema about 30 minutes into it.

I thought the new planet of the apes was pretty decent tbh maybe you should try longer than 30mins

    Renegades - amazon prime.

The worst geriatric cast, screenplay and acting I have ever come across.

The plot is the usual old man killed by gangsters his old mates get together and..................that is all I could bear.

Watch out for the platypus female detective and some 80 year old hag as the met police super.

It would be unfair to call ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt’ a totally rubbish film, but I’m going to do it anyway. This is a long, slow film. Long. And slow. It may appear to be a western, but the genre is actually ‘slightly nuts French woman having a terrible time’, and if you’ve seen any of the other films in that well worn genre, you will know that is a red flag. Annoyingly, what story there is happens out of sequence, which somehow doesn’t make it any more interesting. I could tell you what actually happens in a minute or two, but here it’s stretched out like a piece of chewing gum pulled between your fingers until it snaps, or maybe just sags into your lap and sticks to your clothes. When we left the cinema I had to ask if it was still June. The dead don’t hurt, yet my arse still does.

Mortal Engines - how it gets a 6.1 on IMDB I do not know !

I thought with Peter Jackson in the mix it would be at least ok. It’s not.

Plot, characters, dialogue - all awful.

    avoid.

To save you all the misery and frustration I feel a warning about Trigger Warning is required.

It is dreadful. Don't waste your time. Watch something else. Or go down the pub. Or spend time with your loved ones. Or clean the bathroom. Or watch England play football. Or fill in your tax returns. Or... well, you get the picture

    Hit Man on Netflix.

Why we let it continue to play, I have no idea.

I really wanted to like this, I promise I tried, but Twisters was complete and utter drivel.
Basically a none existent storyline, very two-dimensional characters and not a whole lot of tension. The first movie was a cracker but it didn't need or deserve a sequel, there's only so much CGI debris flying about and bashing people that I can handle.
The main guy (the cocky one from Top Gun: Maverick) plays pretty much the same character from Top Gun and he's actually very likeable. The female lead I'm not familiar with, but she looks about 12 years old and couldn't carry a school production.

That’s a shame to read, as was a big fan of the first like you. Guess I will wait for it to come on Sky Movies instead of a trip to the cinema then.

I might be being a but harsh, it's two hours long and I certainly wasn't bored at any point, but yeah it's a wafer thin premise and some very weak supporting cast.
The soundtrack is excellent if you like a bit of country.

The Happening - what the actual f***?

Started watching it last week as it popped up on the Netflix feed. Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) and starring Mark Wahlberg (always good value IMO), but other than that I knew nothing.

After 20 minutes I had to grab the phone and check if it was a spoof. It was so utterly rubbish on every level it was incredible. The dialogue, the acting, the premise and pretty much everything was appalling.

I switched off after 25 minutes and checked reviews, which confirmed my suspicions:

18% and 1 star on Rotten Tomatoes. Take heed.

‘I saw the TV glow’ is the most annoying film I’ve ever seen. Apparently it’s supposed to be annoying, but that’s no excuse.

I had the misfortune to watch The Union starring Mark Whalberg and Hallie Berry last night, what a pile of trash!

The writing was so bad it made me really think, 'do these actors read the script and think that this will sound natural or normal to the viewer?'
A lot of over the top action scenes, which don't make up for the poor acting. Even the sight of Hallie Berry in not very much at all doesn't save this film

Should have taken heed of the 38% Rotten Tomatoes score instead of my give it a chance nature

Please let my wasted evening save yours

    John
Sadly I watched this a couple.of days ago and apologise for not posting here to save your evening. However I echo what you have said.

It is just a vehicle for two aging actors who need the money or the limelight (or both). There has been a preponderance of actors in their fifties taking on roles in action films and, for the most of the time, it is makes for crap films. Mark Wahlberg plays his typecast self just less enthusiastically and Halle Berry runs around with a gait which suggests she needs a hip replacement (says my wife who is a podiatrist specialising in bio mechanics).

As John already suggested, don't waste your evening with this one. Go out and enjoy some time with loved ones or a bracing walk instead.

    John Wick 3.

No story at all, just two hours of continual fighting.

    Jackpot! On prime last night.
    Utter drivel.
The story is nonsensical (a weekly lottery is drawn, if you kill the lottery winner within 24 hours you get their winnings). Like the Purge but without any reasoning or thought put into it. The action/fight scenes are just 1000 jump-cuts meshed together showing the back of stunt-persons heads (clearly the leads didn't fancy turning up on those days). John Cena is his usual charismatic self and actually he's quite likeable. Awkwafina, if I spelled it correctly, is unlikeable and unfunny, I can't remember enjoying watching her "act" in anything since Crazy Rich Asians but Hollywood keeps casting her...

I'm not lying when I say the best part of this movie is the outtake reel at the end (that's a trend that needs to return, please!)
    Avoid this turkey.

    Alien:Romulus.

One utter utter pile of garbage of a film I've seen in a long time.

2hrs of my life I'll never get back.

Don't waste your time or money.

When a franchise gets milked doesn't begin to describe it.

    Truly awful...

It's so utterly diabolical that I just had to watch it until the end. I was trying to bore myself to sleep for an early flight the following day, but ended up staying awake longer.

Linda Hamilton's (Sarah Connor) role is so comical.

Saw this on IMAX last night for £4 (world cinema day or something) - thought it was pretty good value for money. I've seen much worse and paid a lot more.

I think what also rubs me also is we paid 30 quid for 2 seats and the storyline was effectively diabolical.
After milking the original, there really was no more milk to get out of it....IMHO.
