Nice try ;)
I’m struggling to get a builder to agree to come & do some work for me.
I’ve phoned every builder in my area & none of them are prepared to take on the job.
The reason that I’m consistently being given for their refusal is that they don’t like the contract that I insist they sign beforehand.
My contract states that I have a job for them. I’m not telling them whether it is a simple job like repointing a wall which could be done in half a day, or extensive work taking several weeks like building me an extension. They’ll find that out when they come to look at it.
…& if they come round to look at the job they cannot refuse to take it on.
……& I will pay them the same money whether it’s the simple or extensive job.
…& I decide how much I am paying them for the job & what I’m going to pay them is only about a fifth of the going rate.
……..and the builder has to pay for all the materials and for any subcontractors for no extra money…..even if those cost more than I am paying him.
I am here to be educated….why can’t I get a builder to take my job on?
You have no chance, at all. That seems a truly bizzare way of engaging someone. Have you heard of it working before?
For a lot of jobs they won't even engage in a written contract with deliverables.
Is there a point to the thread?
Not a hope in hell .
Good luck in finding a builder
Nice work!

I get the analogy but are any dentists struggling for work? I don't recall seeing many hard-up dentists, and in my experience it costs a lot of money for relatively quick procedures.
It may be tricky to find a good builder at an affordable price, but finding a good dentist at an affordable price is impossible for most people.
If builders had a steady stream of work, indoors paid for by the Government with the average salary of a dentist I doubt you'd find many moaning on a luxury watch forum.
