Looking forward to this op, not!
Anyone had this joyous experience?
Had to google it.
Good luck mate.
Cheers,
Neil.
I had mine under general anaesthetic so I was not aware of the procedure at all; I think some are done using local anaesthetic, which I would not fancy, but I guess that it is not too bad. I was given a lot of strong painkillers (opiates?) to take home, but I didn’t need any - I don’t remember needing any over the counter stuff either. And then you need to sit around for a week or two at home, legs akimbo, waiting for it to heal, and the blood “spotting” to clear up.
I suggest you look forward to the relief of getting rid of all that fluid. It can make a big difference comfort-wise.
Had mine done some years ago. Had it under general. I experienced quite a lot of post-op bruising and quite a lot of discomfort for a couple of weeks. Not as bad as my hernia op though (which caused the hydrocele in the first place. Worth it to not have to haul an ostrich egg around though.
Had both done (I win) about 20 years ago for the first. First one under NHS and had a stay in hospital and it took a while to heal. Second under private was in and out in a day and much quicker healing both under a general. Make of that what you will as I had no expectations of what recovery would be. Either way no side effects to this day apart from small unnoticeable scars and much more comfortable than at the time.
Sounds like a bit of a ball ache.

Had mine done 8 years ago under local - very surreal experience lying on my back watching the surgeon ‘do his work’ on my unfurled testicle now about 2 ft away from my body….
In and out the same day and no pain to mention really - apart from having to wear a testicle bra for a week or so I wouldn’t have known I’d had it done.
Nothing to worry about Jimp - all the best
"my unfurled testicle now about 2 ft away from my body…" - feck me glad I had a general then!!
