The amusing thing, for me, about this article is the name of the PC interviewed - Mike Pilbeam.
For those in the know, his namesake is a very famous race car engineer/designer!
Reminded me of the original Bond DB5 stolen in Boca Raton

28 years ? Fairly typical response time nowadays
There was an F50 that was stolen back in 2003 in Imola which turned up in Canada in 2019

There’s an excellent podcast about that, discussing the theft, potential ways it happened etc. voiced over by Liz Hurley no-less. Very interesting, The Great James Bond car robbery if interested.
And I saw the recovered Ferrari story this morning, very interesting it took that long. I guess just traded privately with no real investigation of history.
Stolen from Imola with the keys left in it, Berger actually chased the car but lost it, apparently stolen by the Italian mafia and exported straight to Japan along with the a 355 stolen at the same time.
PC Mike Pilbeam said: "The stolen Ferrari - close to the value of £350,000 - was missing for more than 28 years before we managed to track it down in just four days."
Hilarious... blowing about tracking it down in just 4 days.... after 28 years of nothing. Hardly something to be showing off about!
You would imagine the car went to Ferrari for some work, or to be booked in for work at Classiche, and as soon as the serial number was put through the system the alarm bells started ringing. The police were probably acting on information from Ferrari, not solving crime of their own initiative.
"A man of little significance"
