I was never a huge fan but I did listen often in the '80s and noughties, and occasionally since. Just a part of the fabric of our national life.
Ye all those hours I spent tuned into his show behind the wheel what sad sad news.
Very sad.
I absolutely loved Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio One in the 80's - Mr Angry, Gervais the Hairdresser, Mr Wine Bar - just brilliant.

Always used to listen on my commute home in the 80s breath of fresh air. He did get old hat these last few years, but I loved him back in the day.
Very sad news. Used to love listening to him on the commute home when I worked regular hours.
RIP Steve

Ah man! Steve Wright in the Afternoon was the best. A very talented broadcaster. RIP.
Very, very sad news. I was only listening to his show on Sunday.
Sunday Loves Songs every week whilst doing my ironing.
Alright Dave.

Very sad in deed, my mate Phil Cornwall did the voices of Mick & Keef on his show. RIP Steve

RIP Steve. Seems like many of the greatest from various parts of the entertainment industry have left us over the last decade or so. People without as much talent or charisma have replaced them.
I was only listening to him on Saturday
mad was glad he was still going strong. Legendary DJ and show. What a shame.
The voice of my teenage years…
Really sad news.
So clever my foot fell off.
His afternoon show was a great companion back in the day. RIP.
Part of the furniture. Very sad.

Same here.
I remember once there was speculation that Roger Moore was being touted for a role in the next Lloyd Webber musical.
One afternoon SW announced that Roger had been cast and would sing—… but a double would do the acting.

I was chatting with Mrs H about how much I'm enjoying his presentation of Pick of the Pops at the weekend. Very sad indeed
Sad news, spent many an afternoon stuck in motorway traffic jams laughing along with Steve and his posse. RIP Steve Wright.
Just caught it on the news, sad sad news, always came across as a decent knowledgeable fella, RIP SW.

I made the same comment to a ex work colleague as we were both admirers if his talents over the years .
Wonderful talent who amused and entertained without malice , sex or abusive language . Gone too early , he deserved a long , happy , healthy retirement .

Genuinely shocked by the news yesterday- if your of a certain age you’ve grown up with him
What a loss. A superbly talented DJ. I'll miss him very much. RIP Steve.
100's of hours spent in a tractor cab or combine cab when I was young listening to him and the zoo. A said loss.
another vaxx injury death?
Couldn’t believe it when it came on the 6o’ clock news.
Was listening to him only on Saturday.
Loved listening to the antics on the afternoon show. With his Posse, Sid the Manager and Mr Angry.
A talent taken far too early.
RIP Steve.
