I've always had a soft spot for the Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Squelette.
Evening all,
I’m looking for some assistance as I’m seeking a skeleton dial on behalf of a friend who is looking to purchase something to commemorate his grandfather who sadly passed away and always wore a timepiece with an open case back or similar - but knowing very little he has asked me for some recommendations as such I’m hoping the forum maybe able to suggest some recommendations.
He sent me this as an example which he saw on his recent travels but when he saw the price he quickly stepped back as at £32k it’s some what out of reach
So can anyone suggest something similar up to £5k bracket as I could only suggest my navitimer with open case back but he’s keen to see what’s available
It will only be worn sparingly as he wears an omega as a daily and it’s much more of a remembrance piece he’s after
Sorrry to be vague but I’ve really no idea so anything considered
Thanks in advance

How about one of these? https://www.christopherward.com/watc...-S0BB2-B0.html
It’s a bit more subtle than the Breguet (and a lot less expensive) but you can see the movement through the sapphire dial. Doesn’t have a display case back though so I might be wide of the mark.
Did his grandfather not leave anything suitable behind that could be worn as a remembrance piece?
If not, a Zenith defy classic could fit the bill.
A Ulysses Nardin Skeleton X has got to be a favourite but somewhat out of your suggested budget. Pre-owned on Chrono24 at just over £10k.
Well within budget I'd suggest looking at Rado as they have a lot of skeleton watches.
Zenith Defy Skeleton - looks like they can be had for around £5k second hand?

You could take a look at the Oris Propilot X Titanium Calibre 115 skeleton. Skeleton dial and open case back.
First Class Watches are offering discounts from full price and I've attached a link below.

Many thanks for the suggestions so far some lovely pieces - keep them coming
chronoswiss make some nice skeleton watches that can be picked up in that price point (opus range comes to mind)

Sorry for highjacking your topic, but what skeleton watch could be recommended for a small wrist up to 38 mm?
Could check out the Raymond Weil Freelancer Skelton. Always thought the black one looked good https://raymond-weil.co.uk/product/f...-rubber-strap/

Thanks again for the feedback - Open case backs considered Ive tried to talk him into a speedy and thought this was good value

zenith defy 21, might be a little over £5k for a used one.
If I were in this situation (a jolly nice conundrum to have) it would be a decision between:
1. Zenith Defy Classic Skeleton in black with the rubber strap
and 2. Oris ProPilot X 115, on the bracelet (in pictures at least the strap does not look nearly so good):
And I suspect the deciding factor would be wrist size as the Oris does look quite sizable.
thanks for all the input - he went in store tried the speedy I recommended and ended up buying that after all
A wise choice in my view

That Oris looks mega - but is far too big.
I have had 2 of the Zeniths and they are awkward to tell the time with. Look good, but becomes an expensive bangle if it fails in its primary role
