On a guitar I forum I belong to I remarked on a lovely watch that was posted when out of the blue the owner said I could have it as he had so many watches!
I offered to give him something but he was adamant it was a gift knowing I like old Seikos so I gratefully accepted.
Here it is, a Skyliner from June 1968 with a very unusual dial.
Cheers,
Neil.
That's a lovely case and dial.
Those lines on the dial...isn't there an Arctic model from a watch company with a similar dial design? I can't really work out the function of it; I needed to double take to see where the seconds hand is.
Function other than looking great that is!
Edit: Found the Nivada Gretchen Antarctic Spider, but it's actually quite different https://nivadagrenchenofficial.com/c...tarctic-spider

Love it! I remember seeing that model years ago somewhere but haven’t seen one since, love the simple symmetry of it, I’m glad they didn’t spoil it with a date. Well done. What’s the reference so I can start the inevitable search ….?
Cheers..

Awesome! A very unusal Skyliner, a souvenir of a future that never happened.
Remarkably little in common with other Skyliners - gratuitous normal Skyliner shot for reference:
Nice shape to the case. If it was mine I would do something with hand set.
Always liked this typography on ‘Seiko Skyliner’.
Waaaaaaay cooler than what I was expecting to see, that's a fantastic looking thing.
Very different watch you have there Neil. I don't think I've seen that case style before either. Do you find the hands hard to read with the dial color or do the lines bring them out more?
Strong Joe 90 vibe - and that's a very good thing!
I like your 911 Neil :) I live in hope ;).
That is very nice, I like the design a lot.
I wouldnt be able to read the dial myself.
Very nice. Thanks for posting.
That's a rather cool gift Neil, really like that futuristic theme going on.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Very 'Back to the Future' with that one Neil, and a nice gift to boot.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
