Have you checked the breaker or fuse at the consumer unit?
I'm just casting about here to see if it's worth trying to fix.
Its a smeg a1a from a good few years ago. Gas hob, electric oven. Hob works fine and the electric starter is fine. The clock works. I've changed the fuse in the plug (just a 13amp plug, not hard wired) and in the fused spur.
There is no reaction to the main selector switch including the oven light.
Options seem to be
main thermal switch - would this knock out the oven light?
Selector switch - possibly
Element - grill doesn't work either - not this?
Anyone had anything like this?
Thanks

We’ve had Smeg cookers like your for years.A problem we had with one was the multifunction switch, quite a complex affair, partly burnt out.Say that the newer ones may not be the same component
Difficult to say without actually seeing it ,however if the fault is in the appliance and not the supply these guys have loads of spares for your model ,Good luck with it .

Parts aren't hugely expensive. It might be wothwhile just taking it apart and seeing if anything is obviously burnt.
The clock and electric starter work okay so it’s not the consumer unit/power supply as suggested.
Is the timer function flashing on the clock?
A quick google search shows lots of results with the same problem. Might be worth checking some of them.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
It's an analogue clock so won't be exactly that but I'll take a look at the suggestions all the same. The basics can't be different. Thanks
Lol. I read that thread title and thought 'thats an odd pets name' ...
