Brighton beating saudi national team

What is Pope smoking this week?
His distribution is awful and everyone knows it……and the longer it goes on the pressure builds and mistakes will creep in.
I’m fine with giving up possession against a very good team away but we need one those modem footballing keepers!

I think the Fulham manager agrees (from BBC), but as he's not Arteta I'm sure no disciplinary action will be incoming...
"Second half I didn't want a huge, huge, huge mistake from the officials to make an impact on ourselves. I asked my players to react, we cannot control these situations.
"It has happened too often in our games and we end up being punished ourselves. We have been really unlucky since the start of the season in these situations, every week the same story. A bad decision from the linesman and then someone in the office to not disallow this goal is incredible.
"Our second half was not at the level it should be. The penalty for the fourth goal was not a penalty, Kenny [Tete] did not touch the player. It is difficult to understand these decisions."
De Gea, Lloris, Schmeichel (and Raya) all twiddling their thumbs. Maybe at the end of the season Pickford will need a move. That would go down well!
None of the above (possibly apart from Raya) are footballing keepers though.
I don’t see too many better options that might want to play for Newcastle, so you might need to look to the academy.
This is why it was so frustrating under both Mourinho and Conte. They failed to make use of the talent in the squad and instead just set about destroying everyone’s confidence. Horrible, horrible managers, both of them (perhaps they should just ply their trade in Italy going forward).
Where was the defence?! The waves just parted. Newcastle are very poor today and their best player (Tonali) has been subbed off.
Steady Eddie Howe’s coat is on a shoogly peg after this gash start to the season. Heads will roll.
Pope should have got to that second goal. A great shot, but shouldn’t have been beaten from that distance.
Brighton do look much the better team. What happened to that Newcastle team that destroyed Villa, look like a different team tonight.
Pickford gets a lot of flac but that save at the death today was world class. He has made some rash mistakes in the PL but has never let the national team down.
Re. feelings in my waters, the tides have turned. It’s inevitable that more premier league managers will be sacked this year than will survive, so it looks like Howe will not last long. United (Manchester that is) have slumped back, a mess, vulnerable and wide open down the middle, the full length of the pitch. Can ten Hag stop the rot again?

Test for you all
The last season where none of the top six sacked their manager mid season?

Totally agree, teams are starting to target him now which is never a good sign. Too many sub-standard performances from the lads today and a distinct lack of structure and shape. Nice to see Targett get a start, I thought he did fine in what is looking a very shaky defence.
Tough start for sure, but was always going to be looking at the fixture list, hopefully find some rhythm playing some of the lesser sides
Agreed. I still say it’s the Bruno / Tonali combo that’s not working. Bruno doesn’t seem to be able to adapt to the change of role, he’s always looking to go forward which brings him into the same spaces as Tonali. I said on Friday I’d have played Longstaff instead of Bruno to give us that extra defensive cover against a very good team.
Howe seems to favour Bruno in a way I don’t like. He’s never dropped or subbed off no matter how poorly he’s playing and he has been poor end of last season and start of this.
I’d play Longstaff, Tonali and Joelinton in midfield with Gordon on the left, Isak on the right and Wilson up front. Isak and Gordon can keep swapping sides.
It’s time to take Pope out for Dubravka too.

He's not even playing that well yet. Hopefully a lot more to come of Son this season.
Another great Spurs performance at Burnley. Great the fans are getting behind the team and no sign of anti Levty chants as yet. It was getting very toxic at home and away games towards the end of last season.
Gutted, we now have international break.
It’s all a matter of confidence, and yesterday will do him a power of good. With Johnson available now as well, I can’t see Ange reverting to Richarlison in the starting line up other than through injuries, so hopefully Sonny will relish playing through the middle.
Looks like Sanchez will be off next week, so potentially chances for Phillips or, indeed, Dorrington to get some appearances under their belts.
Don’t want to tempt fate but this appears too easy.

There is quite a bit of frothing going on about this. Stop kidding yourself. Once people realise that it isn’t teams that are doing this but the officials screwing up, we may get somewhere. Remember the Rashford goal in the Derby? That was absolutely bonkers. The one yesterday was also crackers. No blue I know felt that goal should have stood. It was offside and if that wasn’t interfering with play I don’t know what is. Even the striking Viking came out and said it shouldn’t have stood. Having said that, if people think that after a 5-1 battering that goal would have had a profound affect on Fulham’s performance they possibly need to give their heads a wobble. Fulham who went down to ten men against Arsenal and still managed to come back and get a draw. They were battered yesterday in that second half and couldn’t cope.
Idiocy from Emery. Playing short out from the back is how NOT to play against Liverpool - the Reds are vulnerable to longer balls but if you just try and play short all the time they will smother you.
A bit harsh on Newcastle having to play less than 24 hours after their last match
Villa lucky to escape with only conceding 3, could have easily been 7/8.

Good grief… - what a miss from Havertz!
