Certainly a good ride, but 3 weeks to go................
Certainly a good ride, but 3 weeks to go................
I hope it’s not already decided. Off to see some of it in a week or so.

Interesting post analysis on Eurosport / DMAX that possibly Evenpol has come into the Giro “ hot”. The implication being that he may have peaked to early?
Remco out with Covid !

Wow missed that! Its interesting that last years TDF allowed positive tests as long as the riders “ viral load” was low. Clearly he is not too fatigued to turn over a TT performance like todays.
So the field opens up again, imagine the DS’s in Ineos & Jumbo Visma camps tonight!

More gone today and stage 10 has its moments...most in the wrong way so far (illness, weather, accidents). Still, it is building to a finish that should be worth a watch.
Missing the DMAX coverage on TV this evening, no idea why its not being shown.
There is a one hour coverage on S4C , clearly its in Welsh but its more comprehensive than a 5 min GCN snippet on Youtube.
Thanks for the info managed to find S4C on iPlayer
What a finish.
***SPOILER ALERT***
My heart really goes out to G. I thought that he would have enough to win it today but he didn’t look like he had his legs on him. He was head down & grinding for most of the climb whilst others, especially Roglic, were flying up it.
Chapeau to Roglic and I’m sure that this has exorcised most of the demons from losing the TdF a few years ago.
If you get a chance watch the post race interview with Roglic. Apparently the border with Slovenia is a couple of km from the route so he was inundated with support. Also he was honest that he had some low read hard days over the last three weeks.
Respect.
G was still second on the stage though, so it was still an outstanding performance from him. He will have had race radio informing him of the time splits of Roglic. As a veteran of nearly a thousand time trials, I can say with authority that it is nigh on impossible to lift your pace in a sustainable manner beyond what you are already doing in TT mode. This discipline is all about pacing, a tightrope walk of going hard, but not too hard. I can imagine the world of hurt he suffered when his race director was telling him the race lead seconds were eroding away, he was riding that fine line between going too easy & going too hard, & then having to go into the red zone. Painful to watch let alone endure. Chapeau to him.
On Dmax at 10pm I think. Amazing finish.
Good to see Cav back to winning way(s).
It bodes well for his ‘attempt’ at the Tour record.
And what a sportsman G was to give Cav a lead out in the last few K.
It would have been all too easy to sit back and lick his wounds the day before.
Pure class, G is my favourite rider by far, he always gives excellent interviews. Very humble and a great sense of humour.
Very disappointing to not see G win, but guessing that Roglic deserved it after his disastrous up-hill TT at the 2020 TdF, and just amazing to see Cav win by such a margin, fingers crossed for this years TdF.
