A piece of plastic like a thick plastic bag is place between the tool and the caseback so unless you are particularly reckless there should be no marks left on the watch
I just put electrical tape over the back to stop the risk of slipping on the case - and use a case holder as extra leverage whilst opening the back.
Unless I was actually swimming etc with the watch I am happy to do my own battery changes - and then in a few years then get it done at GS to ensure the seals are checked / replaced.
Cheers

[QUOTE=TheTigerUK;6141309]Ask Bry if he has a 6 point non marking opener that fits ? I use them all the while as they are my go to tool for case backs.
Great, thanks! How can I get in touch with him please?
Hi,
CZ121 brass pins work well.

This looks very primitive and indeed it is, but does the job perfectly. Two pieces of surplus wood screwed to an old kitchen cabinet in the garage. The case holder slots between, and good downward pressure can be exerted on the caseback tool with no chance of the case holder turning. Also there is no need to grip it in a vice. I have a cheap three-pronged removal tool and I've removed many casebacks and have never slipped (yet) using this method.
Clever setup.

Dropped my GS at Goldsmiths today - £85 & 8-10 weeks turnaround - which seems ok on price but terrible for turnaround.
The helpful assistant insisted that Seiko would assess my watch & if a service is needed it would be £350.
I suggested that a USP of the GS 9F movement is the lack of service requirements. It was lost on her.
I gave up trying to explain.
Work in watch shop.
No idea about products.
How do they get the job ?

Yeah, the sealing and testing I'd agree tips it into the worth it camp.
