Seems there is a UK shortage of Poppy and Sesame crackers too. Out of stock everywhere... :0(

In similar vein... though you may not be able to afford a pint of ale due to say the moron premium on your mortgage and the rising cost of heating/ eating, never mind, take heart and be of good cheer, there's now a crown on the glass huzzah

Is it too expensive to grow our own fruit/veg, hydroponics run by solar panels, all year round?
Has Ireland left the EU?

Question for Passenger and others in Spain - are you suffering any shortages at the moment? A chap I know who is a Brexiteer has just told me his brother who lives in Spain has said they have shortages of bread, fruit (including apples and oranges) and veg including lettuce and tomatoes.
Is this true or BS?
So clever my foot fell off.
Someone just sent me a message saying lorry drivers are refusing to wait 77hours to get here, so their is a glut i across the channel, he is a remainer
I did the weekly shop only Wednesday, happy to confirm it was a veritable cornucopia, at least half a dozen types of tomatoes, plenty of varieties of apples, oranges too though I don't need to buy those, cos we have a variety of orange trees, plenty of salad stuffs, grapes, Nana's, blueberries, avocados! etc...Lots of bread, both an abundance of the loaves they bake in store and plenty of sliced loaves. I honestly didn't see any gaps on any shelves/ shortages of anything at all, always this way.
I suspect Brexit BS amigo, it does seem to run in their blood, they've an aversion to reality based dialogue/ the facts..

FFS. Waitrose have just restricted purchases of white flesh guava to 3 per client
In my day we didn't even know what salad was. We just used to eat turnips, and coal, and bits of old twigs, and let me tell you, we were grateful for it! Bring back the good old days is what I say!
Sure we can all manage w/o lettuce and cucumbers really a OTP.
Tomatoes far more useful and missed if become really unobtainable. Same for peppers.
I read it could be apples and pears next as well, a lot of UK producers are pulling up and not replanting orchards because there´s just no money in these crops. Sure there´ll still be imports, but as we´ve seen bad weather, Ramadan, the encumbrance of trade with additional red tape and delays, other unexpected circumstances, can really embugger supply chains.
´´A turnip a day keeps the Dr away´´, hmmm, nah not quite the same.

After full shelves in Aldi on Monday, went into our local Sainsbury's today for some casserole vegetables - plenty of fruit, veg and eggs on display.
Not seen any shortages around here.
Cheers,
Neil.
Only expensive tomatoes left in M&S and none in Sainsbury's today. I fully expect there will be loads of f wits bulk buying after the headlines to then find they have to bin lots as they have gone off before they can be used.
Just got back from a week in Rome and there is lots of fresh veg everywhere there!
Good news for the salad dodgers.

What did you do in the great tomato famine daddy?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Seeing as he's really a very small, cute piglet, I'd have thought Mme Coffey'd be just as well to watch her own back in the event of such an occurrence, lots more meat than on little piglet, already pre smoked an'all. The poor and hungry likely unamused by her turnip prescription.

I can believe that. In my area of Kent a lot of “farmers” have been trying to sell their orchards for housing. Some have succeeded but a lot have been refused permission as the land is profitable farmland. In response they have ripped up the orchards and not replanted, what was profitable farmland is now earning them nothing so I expect the next planning application will be accepted. The growers were very profitable but nothing compared to what they can get for selling out.
No shortage in our part of UK, we are close to large Tesco and a large Asda distribution centre.
No tomatoes or peppers in my local Tesco on Saturday evening. Walked down to local farm shop yesterday and they had an abundance of both. Bought five large tomatoes and two red peppers - seven quid! Not surprised they still have stock at those prices.
Lot sof rubbish being spoken about the shortages.
Last year the growers and breeders said that margins were too small. For the stuff grown in greehouses it was energy costs. The government refused to subsidise energy for growers, supermarkets refused to pay more for UK produce and said they were going to buy from abroad instead.
So UK farmers grew less or switched to more profitable lines.
Poor yields in Spain, Morocco etc means there's much less of a surplus. Hence no stock in the UK.

Words to live by in your final sentence, along with treat others as you'd like to be treated ergo now the UK's a customer of last resort and the UK's farmers have nowt but disdain and boo's for the Govt. and Coffey, the distinct lack of any contingency planning...this has the potential to get considerably worse before it plausibly has a chance, the time, to get better.

Is this the Brexit thread now?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about, we havent been able to afford fresh veg, salad, eggs etc for quite a while now, thank goodness for spuds :)
Are there a shortages of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in Northern Ireland?
Are there shortages of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in Ireland (the republic)?
If the answer to both questions is yes, are the shortages of comparable severity?

Waitrose may be onto something here. Reduce food waste.
^ Could just be some extra extra long life milk. [Reminds me, I haven't bought full fat milk for years, nor skimmed for that matter ...]
No peppers available this evening. Mrs, being Spanish, is livid and now refusing to cook anything.
Hmmm. I feel a pint and a pack of mini cheddars calling me.
