Hmmmm I will be watching this one with interest. Not sure of the hour hand shape (maybe too modern for the watch) but understand the need to be different to other similar watches.

I like it but I also think it requires different, less overpowering hands and the subdial needs to be bigger.

The subdial size depends on the distance from its centre to the dial center. It's a problem with current movements.

Am I right to assume from the specification sheet that this will (if it goes ahead) come on a strap rather than a bracelet?

As with some other Timefactors models, I would personally prefer it if the minute hand was a little shorter.

Beautiful, yes I’d definitely be up for the Smiths interpretation either as is or with a cream dial gilt batons and hands, same Everest 36mm case and crystal on a quality brown strap. Go very nicely with my three other Everests and the Air Ministry.

Refined and subtle, a gentleman’s wristwatch from when I was a great deal younger.

I had been hoping to see this in production.

Mellor-72 is one of my favourites, but would welcome an alternative with sapphire and enhanced WR.

My wish would be for an Ernest Shackelton “Endurance” edition using the PRS 25 as a base.
Having read the book about the recent discovery of the ship Endurance that was found in remarkable condition, I was fascinated to find that the ship used a series of Smith’s chronometers for navigation and that a Smith’s chronometer was kept on a cord around the neck of Captain Worsley and used by Shackelton to aid Worsley in navigation during their desperate attempt for help when leaving Elephant Island to sail to the nearest whaling station to seek rescue for the rest of his men.
Eddie was unaware of this incredible association with Smith’s but after some research kindly sent me some information about the chronometer which is now in the Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge.

Yeah a smiths dirty dozen would be a thing of beauty for sure. Interesting that the spec sheet lists it as 38, would have imagined it as a 36?

Same here, 36mm would be the ideal case size for a piece of this calibre as 38mm may look a little too large due to the large dial space in my opinion.

Yeah I thought this, I think the subsecond dial needs to be a little squished in so to speak for it to look right? Glad to know it’s not just my obsession with 36mm pieces that’s swaying my opinion!

  24. #74
Last two models shown in this thread would both be on my list.
But since TimeFactors Watches are made out of unobtanium, it doesn't really matter / I don't care what gets made or not, as I will sadly be unable to add it to my collection.

I agree, it looks better at 36mm.

That looks great. It would great with a period correct strap. Maybe a collaboration with A.F.0210

    Or Vintage Watch Straps.

Now that is a dream watch. Perfect answer to everything people didn't like about Cabot's offering, and a good alternative to Timor, Vertex, Baltany and the discontinued Vaer (and more in line with my personal preferences to boot!)

    Hopefully this comes to fruition

Was just looking at my Haveston canvas strap thinking that would be perfect for this watch, and then I had to go and look at af0210 - thank you for spending my money for me

Come on Eddie, how about a batch of the Hillary Original? Same 36mm case as the one above with a different dial and handset. I'd buy one.

I would REALLY like this one, although I would prefer beige patina numerals.

I am not one to shy away from faux-patina, in fact I recently just got out of a phase where I wanted it on everything, however I feel the white of the numerals is what makes the patina of the markers 'pop'?

Then again, I'm not a fan of the cushion case of the Mellor so my opinion of the dial (which I like as is) shouldn't hold any weight as I probably wouldn't be a buyer

I was thinking about a 2-piece in the style of the A.F.0210 so you don't have the extra piece under the back.

A late 1970's Heuer Leonidas easy- rider chronograph, out of plastic. Because I like the oval shape.

It’s really interesting that a lot of the requests (the majority?) are under the Smiths brand. Personally I can see why - I really like the brand and history. ‘Branding’ is always a personal thing by design - and I don’t find the other TZ brands ‘calling out’ to me like Smiths.

I like some of the Precista models at least as much as the Smiths models, but can't stand the logo. It's not the brand name Precista, it's just the logo itself. Sounds petty I know, but it simply stops me wanting one.

Quick Edit: the eta-7001 was the movement I was thinking of, not sure whether that's achievable with the budget in mind or if there are other alternatives

Interesting how we all see thing differently! I actually really like the Precista logo (as well as the watches).

Like most here, I also like the Smiths logo - the original 'SMITHS' logo appeals to me as they remind me of the instrument panel in my Dads old Jag but also the newer smaller font of the PRS range with the 'boobies' crown.
