The most embarrassing one for me was at Alicante airport waiting at the baggage reclaim. I tend to zone out and go into a world of my own but with my eyes open.
When I zoned back in I was staring at Terry Venables who was looking straight back at me.
On another occasion whilst waiting st Gatwick to board a plane, there was a lad in a hoodie giving someone (I assumed it was his girlfriend) a load of grief on the phone. I didn’t know him from Adam but I was later told that it was Stephen Mulhern.
Mate of mine went to the toilets in the Virgin Lounge at Heathrow and came back telling me he had spotted Harrison Ford but when I went to have a butchers it was Nick Faldo.

Liam Gallagher on a flight to Chile the other weekend.
In the mid 80s I literally bumped (backed) into Christopher Lee (aka Dracula) at Munich Airport. He was very apologetic in that wonderful English way but scared the shit out of me regardless.
Years later I used to see all sorts when I was doing the Monday out - Thursday night back commute from Glasgow Airport to Heathrow. Back when he was Chancellor I had to give way for Gordon Brown coming up the stairs from the gents in the British Midland business lounge. At the time it was quite the place for spotting famous bods ... assorted other MPs like John Reid and a young Douglas Alexander ... TV and media types like Robbie Coltraine (who looked dangerously obese even then back in the mid-90s), Krusty Allsop off Location Location Location which was quite big at the time, John Curtice the pollster ...
Thank God I don't have to do it now I couldn't think of anything worse than sharing a space with the smug gits in the SNP contingent.
I've spotted a few infamous people in the wild in my time! I couldn't name names for obvious reasons!
William Holden bought me an ice cream whilst he tried to hit on my mother at the Red Star ferry Hong Kong 1960.
I knocked David Platt over in Crewe when he rounded a corner and bumped into me.
I side stepped Billy Connelly on Piccadilly a couple of months ago. He was in a fantastically loud suit, but unfortunately had to be helped to walk. He was still smiling and saying hello to everyone that greeted him.
Gillian Andersen, many years ago (20+) - I had no idea it was her, but I thought she was hot (only had warm beer in her fridge though)
Quite a few Rugby Players over the years (played with quite a few)
Dale Winton tried to chat me up once whilst having lunch in Chelsea, again many many years ago. I have never lived that down with the lads that were there. (I wonder why he gravitated to 20 something rugby players) he was a surprisingly large chap.
I called Bob Geldof a **** once, he told me to **** off - ruined the party atmosphere somewhat)
Vivian Westwood called me a **** once, whilst I walking down Bond Street and she was cycling on the pavement.
Sat on a flight next to Denis Waterman and Robert Powell on a flight to Glasgow once. Both were really nice lads
Saw Roger Moore walking down Sloane Street, I have never been more star struck!
There are few more but they dits for sharing over a pint.

The only man to ever compliment me on one of my shirts was Chris Evans. While I was standing at a urinal having a wee.
I've bumped into Derek Bell enough times to think he may be stalking me.
"A man of little significance"
Susie Dent complimented me on my beard on Sunday but it was at a book signing so doesn't count.

Lol. There must be something about airports - a few years back I did the same (literal bump) to Mike Tyson at Heathrow. He was tiny but the two man-mountains alongside him were somewhat intimidating.
All because I, being a prize muppet, had spotted the two paparazzi chaps that used to feature on one of those Heathrow documentary TV series, so was looking back at them without thinking there might be a good reason for their presence…

Had a few heaving drinking sessions with Chris Evans in the day and sat with Edward Norton on a long haul flight talking about watches, after he commented on my Sinn EZM1. Never once mentioned I knew him from films which I think made for a great flight for us both.
Nearly forgot, Sean Connery swearing at me on a golf course in Spain, I was 14, messing about with my mate, not even playing.

Played 90 minutes of footy with Bob Wilson, David van Day (Dollar) & Jack Wild (artful Dodger) on the other side for a celebrity charity football event.
P.s. I'm no celebrity.
Stood next to Frankie Howard in the Swan pub in Lancaster Gate years ago and watched him knock back three triple scotches in about 5 minutes.

Continuing the flight theme...
I was once sat behind Hugh Grant on a BA flight to Bologna. He was wearing a baseball cap and trying to go unnoticed but I remember the whole transfer bus looking at him and trying to sneak photos.
My best crap spot...in 2010, I was sat behind Mercedes McQueen from Hollyoaks (no idea what the actress is called) on a Virgin Atlantic flight to Vegas. I overheard she was staying at the Wynn for a boozy weekend.
I brought a coffee to Bob Dylan in the 70s
I flew from Paris to NY next to Emmylou Harris. I was 15 and a bit smitten. I met Mick Jagger on the bld St-Michel in Paris in the 80s, we spoke a few words but no one had recognised him and I didn’t want to be the one that broke his cover so I tried to leave asap but he was really nice.
There are quite a few personalities who were in my social circle in France (from my parents, my own or professionally) but would not mean much here.
I did tell a joke to John Cleese and not only did he listen until the end, he even laughed. Briefly.
