I have a 110V Makita chop saw and jigsaw. Only really because I was buying used and as you say there seemed to way more for sale on eBay etc. No particular downsides other than the transformer is heavy and it’s more crap to trip over in the garage.
Does anyone use these at home? Even with the added cost of a transformer, second hand 110V tools seem to be a lot cheaper.
Any pluses or minuses to be aware of?

Where do you think most 2nd hand tool come from.
I'd never buy second hand tools. Especially off ebay. I honestly don't know anyone who sells their tools unless they don't work anymore. The tools, not the people.
To be fair, some people literally collect piles of tools and do sell stuff on. Perhaps more hand tools than power tools. Although with power tools folk do upgrade and have been know to sell stuff off bits so they can get the whole kit aligned to a single manufacturer/battery type. It's not all going to be dodgy. But as ever, buy the seller.
A lot of lads in the trade I know are selling all there 110v gear and going cordless, now the batteries are getting better.

Minus - have likely been used hard on site on a daily basis and battered, or stolen, or ex hire equipment (battered and neglected) the transformer weighs a surprising amount to carry around.
Plus - they are cheaper to buy used, if you get an electric shock from it should be less likely to die
As already posted, apart from table saws, most are/have switched to battery tools.
