Looking for a watch that says, 'I'm gold. Do you understand? GOLD.'
So, nothing subtle. But no crap, either, and not on a bracelet, because that will make it too expensive.
Would you please be so kind as suggest one?

Gold at a relatively inexpensive price.

Surely there is only one?
Come on, please be serious and not smart. If I don't want a watch "on a bracelet, because that will make it too expensive", neither of these two will fit the bill. And, anyway, the Patek is fugly and I already have a YM with a platinum dial & bezel that looks a whole lot better than this secondhand car dealer's Roller.
Best to give a budget which will be helpful.
Also do you have strong views on size, if you are ok with say 35mm, your choice is really opened up.
I agree however a gold watch looks best on a good leather strap.
mens Longines Evidenza in 18ct yellow gold.
Always thought if I had to have a gold watch no matter the price, it would have to be one of those two, which fit the bill I think:
How about this?
People may not recognise white gold so may not be shouty enough - but for those that do …
Or this offering from Breitling:

Vintage is definitely the way to go for gold watches, buy wisely and you won't regret it.

I’m a fan of the Cartier Santos Dumont in gold and relatively affordable compared to other brands gold offers.
I now you said no bands but nothing says gold like a gold band. A Rolex Midas.

Every watch a story.
This ^^^^^^
I'm not a fan (or a Buyer as a rule) of Yellow Gold or the Yachtmaster II...........but the new 42 YG YM is a bit nice actually. Sold my YM Everose 40 years ago for peanuts as it wore so small and on that size of watch (40mm) the Oysterflex doesn't really work for me either.
I sold that one a couple of yrs back for 4.5K
I regret that now but vintage day dates are still not bad value
I really like the Longines Legend Diver in gold (a few different options are available)
Ok, so it’s not actually gold, but unashamedly in your face I recon. Picture stolen from internet.

I’m in Dubai just now and the watch of choice seems to be the rose gold APs.

For me this a winner
Just wish it was cheaper on the secondary market.

Not quite, they did a rose gold calibre36 which has a better movement and is even nicer IMHO.
They only made 150 though so nearly impossible to find. I almost got one many years ago but just missed out.
I was happy with my yellow gold one though and it was the watch I wore on my wedding day. It’s long since gone though (but the wife is still here!)
This, for me. I’m lusting…. https://www.glashuette-original.com/...2-09-02-05-62/
I recently had one of these which was glorious.
But now am wanting one of these, I have the stainless steel version but the gold!!!!
A classic Day Date on leather is always a great option too.
The better movement is certainly compelling, but I've never quite got my head around copper-coloured gold. Were I seriously in the market, the Heuer-only branded black-dial SS re-edition would be the one. I often fancy the notion of a gold watch, but in truth have no occasion to wear one nowadays.
I have a Girard-Perregaux 'Vintage 1945' Moonphase & Large Date with wonderful 'black polished' hands & numerals in white gold, all of which I like very much.
It's the reason for this thread, though, because I want something to equal it in GOLD gold (but not another G-P).
So far, the yellow gold Heuer Monza seems to be pretty good.
The black polish makes the numerals go ... er ... black and disappear at some angles.

JLC Reverso?
I like the idea of a Reverso because you can turn a mono face model over purely to expose a blank plate which won't attract a scrote when wandering around in touristy areas. The only downside is that it is hardly water proof.

Breguet 3810. Gorgeous.

My old Zenith Elite ultrathin is sub 5k at WF. Condition when I sold it to them was immaculate, like NOS. 18k case, hands, markers and buckle.
40mm x ~7 so it's all dial but the way it plays with the light is glorious.
Hard to beat a vintage Seamaster if you want gold and classy - a rare combination imho
I think Stallone endorsed these and had a hand in the design, hence the subtle use of skulls!
