Nice short 'review', but your words just echo why I don't like them .. too dressy/classy for the likes of me!
I received an IWC portuguese the other day, and have been wearing it the past 4 days, i am mighty impressed.
The watch at first feels a bit too light and a bit dressy, but once you loose the initial "oh my god i mkight break it" the watch really comes into it's own, we made a trip to liverpool yesterday to pick up the big fellas new car, the guy selling us the car was wearing a Rolex Yachtmaster and straight away clocked the IWC.
In my opinion it out shines ANY rolex, just for the sheer fact that it is soo classy, refined and elegant. the watch just screams WIS and is a very nice timepiece.
I am considering keeping it, but have found myself still hanckering for another Rolex, or a new venture Panerai.
The IWC has a very crisp feel to it and does not dissapoint when it comes to finishing.
An extravagence yes, a WIS neccesity, undoubtedly.
IWC, for when the best just ain't good enough.
Thanks,
Andrew

No disrespect to anyone, as I feel they are terrific watches and probably the nicest looking chronographs on the wrist ... but for some very strange reason, I see many of these worn by ladies. They also come with different coloured dials, like green and brown.

Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
The current girl watch thing seems to be bigger is better - my missus borrowed the Panerai the other day (strap colour matched her boots). The Portuguese AFAIK comes with either a black, white or silver with an option of lighter sub dials on the black?Originally Posted by abraxas
Anyhow - not fussed if the ladies like them - the last time I saw a Daytona in the wild it was on the wrist of an air hostess (sorry - cabin staff).
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
I mentioned to Lynn the other day that the fashion for women seems to be bigger watches these days.Originally Posted by Chris_in_the_UK

And this from someone who makes Tamara Press look like Olga Korbut

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
A large watch when worn loose can make a thin (female) wrist look even thinner. You haven't lived if you haven't seen a Panny on a hot thing.Originally Posted by Griswold

That is a superb looking watch. I don't normally like dressy watches too much but that definitely gets my juices going.
Love the Portugese range by IWC. The most tasteful range imo.
That is really nice, I have an IWC pilot, but think I need to add one of those to the collection.
You can't go wrong with an IWC!
They are a class act.
my mates got one - always looks a million dollars - very classy
beautiful watch
Bloody love it Andrew. However to afford one the SD would have to go.

GOT...TO...KILL...CAPTAIN STUPID!
Well I bought the white faced one of these recently and agree with all of the comments above, its a fantastic watch with a whole lot of class and peerless build quality. I love it :D !

I like IWC, had a pilot chrono, but it seems rather dear for basically a 7750 (or so I,m told)
Top marks, got one of these recently and its getting loads of wrist time :P
hopefully my next purchase, love it
It is a lovely looking watch, but did you get a free pen with it? :)
Me too !!!Originally Posted by Griswold
Yes some "review"... I once was the owner of a 3714 Portugieser. I needed funds so was kind of forced to sell it. Actually it was the most beautiful watch I ever owned so far. A bit unconfortable on my wrist though. :|
Beautiful watch, congratulations.Originally Posted by VinceR
Vince, I actually don't ever feel mine is too dressy/classy at all.
What I love about my Portuguese SS is that it falls under the radar and most people (unless they know their watches) don't even pay attention to it. I wear it with a suit but also on the weekends with casual clothes - imho it never looks out of place. They may not be to everyone's taste and it isn't a beater but I never feel 'overdressed' when I'm wearing mine.
Again, congrats on a great purchase.
Thanks for the review.
that is my grail, well not that exact one, but the white face with the blue hands. Fantastic watch.
Well, I have to say that this is an absolutely stunning timepiece ! Never heard about the women wearing this size, but at least it shows some taste on their behalf, and I suppose it might combine two thinks I like
I think that the size is one of the larger especially because of the lack of bezel. Can't imagine it on a female wrist... even though I'm trying really hard
What is the diameter of this please?Really tempted by one of these now!
looks fantastic, am seriously tempted with the white dial/blue hands version
Short review but the beauty of that watch is a thousand words
It's a beauty.

Remember seeing a picture of a very slim lady wearing a Big Pilot a while back. Looked strange. :?
As for the Port ... Its a very nice watch ... But then am biased. Think the count at work is now up to 3 Port and 2 PPC on the floor! .... I will convert them all .... Oh yes .... I will convert them all
Very nice watch it has given me some ideas...
If you ever want to flip it sounds like there would be a lot of lnterest.
This is definitely next on my list.
i wish i could buy one :bounce:
Super watch- would love to acquire one some day!
Nice watch but I have to say that I beleive this combo is much more elegant

Agreed... this is the watch that started my watch disease (at least that's what my other half calls it...)
If I have a grail... then it's this exact watch. It's everything a watch should be in my eyes.... elegant, clear, straightfoward, non-flashy (a non WIS wouldn't know an IWC from a punch on the nose), purposeful, a good size and fits a number of roles.
Lovely.
Beautiful watch, I tried one on in an AD the other day, and have no doubt that one day I'll own one.
Thats a really nice looking watch, love the review on it.
Love the blue hands on that :D Really is very contrasting agains't that dial.

Quite agree, for me it would always be the white face and blue hands... but for me, also, it would be the 7-day...Originally Posted by SSK007

Another one on my ' this year' list. Fingers crossed !
Good job, very cool.
I've recently taken delivery of one of these; the 3714-45 i.e. White/silver dial, gold numerals, gold hands with blue chrono hands. They now come with a deployant clasp as standard. Absolutely stunning watch.
