...and at the other end of the spectrum , our Austin 10 got a bit past it so my Dad planted it in his garden
Speaking of BECs my 220bhp Hayabusa road reg SR3 nips along quite nicely

Great. Mate in the village has an Ultima. Another nuts car.
These are the cars we'll miss when we've all gone electric. True, electric cars are chuffing quick, but it's the thrill of a gear change, heel and toe, the smell and of course the sound.

Anyone got a 330e? Any idea of average MPG just using the ICE?
Couldn’t tell you the MPG of just ICE, as mine simply reads the max MPG figures, as during the week it covers my commute on electric power alone. I’d expect it to be very similar to the 3 series with the 2 litre turbo engine alone, with a little deficient for the additional kg’s
It's just a matter of time...
Six weeks in with the Jaguar I-Pace and thoroughly enjoying it, home charging is a doddle and the performance is great.

There's a Quaife in line reversing box in the prop tunnel. One of these: but mine is gold annodised ally rather than black!
Because of the way it works, you get six forward gears courtesy of the bike gearbox. Then you engage reverse, and presto, you have six reverse gears too.
In theory it will do about 145mph in reverse, I've never attempted more than about 10mph backwards, it's an absolute bugger to reverse.
Sounds like a great solution. I wonder what the world speed record is for reversing...

165kph apparently. In a Caterham!

You recall wrong I think. It has 404PS in total combined ICE and EV power. The 300ish BHP is the petrol ICE 2.0 turbo part, and 141ish BHP is the EV part. Seems you lose 40 odd ps/bhp when they combine. 404PS actually is 398.4 BHP, although most reviews normally quote PS as BHP.
Yup it is a nice car, definitely better than the 340bhp diesel one we had previously. (which was also a very nice car!)

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Recently sold my ND2 NX5, which I was very sad about, such a fantastic car.
But today picked this beauty up:
It's just as good as it looks, this car has been given a lot of love in the last few years.
Very happy
Lovely car, I have a similar one
Loads of fun to drive, I put it up for sale early in the year but fortunately it didn't sell enjoy it!!!

My new daily.
(Just kidding, but I spotted it on the mean streets of Leamington Spa yesterday!)
What is it? MOT site says it's a blue "Aston Martin unknown".
It's this actual car, I think - although the video description says "debut at the FOS 2021", and it's a 2020 plate?

Pictured shortly before it broke down.
Not pictured : all the driver modes and tech that doesn't work yet.
I had to stop driving in 2008, but if I could it’d be comfort over speed for me and nothing modern. Probably an XJ12 or XJC

An update, no more Subaru Forester for me, my uncle gave up driving and gave me this beast, a 2004 Skoda Fabia 1.4 Comfort with about 56k miles on the clock:
Almost all my driving is within a three-mile radius, with the occasional trip a bit further, although it did sterling service to Cornwall and back last month. Brilliant car, 50mpg (and 500 miles from a tank), rides and drives beautifully and because it's so small you have a lot of road to play with. I still have this in the garage:
And this too:
"A man of little significance"
Not yet! (Unless you count a K&N Cold Air induction kit and MX5Parts back box.)
It's actually the 90bhp 1.6 which feels quite lively up to 4k rpm and then pretty sluggish after that. There's a very good specialist down the road and I'm looking at sticking some Eunos cams and a few other bits and bobs to free up the top end a bit. That will do for me I think, was always quite happy with my old 1.6, I actually like the fact you can drive them hard without doing crazy speeds. The lower power 1.6s do turbo charges well due to the lower compression ratio but I want to stay NA.
I might tighten up the suspension a bit, it's a UK spec so a bit soft and wallowy but I don't want to go crazy on it, it's not going to be a dedicated track car or anything like that.
The K&N will give you 5bhp or so when the engine is cold but tends to take power away when the engine is hot. It apparently sounds great though! This is the only intake I've seen that actually increases power:
https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/cold-a...mxv155011.html
You cut a hole in the bulkhead behind where the air filter is now and it draws in cold air from a low pressure part of the car. I seem to recall Skuzzle (RIP) had one on their rolling road and saw a 10bhp increase even when the engine was hot. But Dave Fab no longer make it, so I'm not sure where one would come from. Not helpful...
The first performance mod I did to mine (aside from Meister R adjustable dampers) was an M-Tech - sorry, Motorsport Electronics, M-Tech is the oily side of the business - plug and play ECU which took power from the 106bhp it had as standard past the 130bhp it should have had (1.8) to 140bhp. It now has individual throttle bodies, skimmed head, fruity cams and around 165bhp but still on a standard manifold, so more power to come (when I get round to it). Could you have a bit more fun with uprated cams whe the head when it comes off, or is there anything you can do with a Mk2 head instead?
"A man of little significance"
Thanks for that - current plan is still to fit the Eunos cams and a light head skim which gets it back to old 1.6 levels plus maybe a tiny bit more, but it's not so much the raw power I'm after, more freeing up the top end - my old 1.6 Eunos was lovely to rev out, this really doesn't want to. Quote I have for the work is reasonable and includes cambelt and water pump change which is a good thing. Need to sell my other car first though to keep her indoors on side!
I'm not discounting going further with it at some point, and that ECU is a distinct possibility, but one step at a time!
How does yours drive, is it a bit peaky?
I'm not sure what peaky means. It loses a tiny bit of mid-range torque, but it's barely noticeable. It doesn't like holding steady revs at certain points in the rev range, so 30 in fourth just doesn't work, every four or five seconds it has a stutter. A common thing with ITBs. It's fine to do 30 in third or fifth though. Power is great and the sound and speed at which it revs picks up from about 5,500 rpm to the new rev limit of 7,500 rpm (about 7,900 on the rev counter, for some reason) is fantastic. It doesn't feel any slower than before up to 5,500 either. I have a lightweight fly and competition clutch which make it a bit tricky sometimes, and it's no fun in prolongued stop-start traffic. I fitted a Torsen LSD too, which works brilliantly. It's not an easy car to drive, but I like it that way, it's much more rewarding.
There's not too much I want to do to it now, probably Elise Mk1 seats to get me sitting a bit lower, and a 4-2-1 manifold and sports cat to free up a bit more power.
Had I known I was going to modify it this much I'd have bought one ready done, but that's the way it goes.

This arrived last week, very pleased with it, a big step up from my previous iteration.

50 years ago, I was driving one of these: a 1972 Mazda RX-2 Coupe (rotary). One of the best cars (of 40) I've ever owned. On the highway, I would floor the gas pedal, and that rotary engine sounded like a Boeing 707 at full tilt! Loved the 8-track tape player, too!
Bit of a roller-coaster at Unclealec Motors.
Sold the Moggie van:
and advertised the Javelin, with very little interest:
apart from a dealer near Edinburgh, who offered some cash and a Standard Flying Nine:
It arrived last Sunday. On Tuesday I went to a Standard Motor Club lunch. Flying? I was pulling over to let faster traffic past IN A 30MPH ZONE!
Advertised it when I got back from the pub, sold it the next day, which left me without any form of transport commensurate with my image of being an Old Fart complete with carpet slippers, Fair Isle cardigan, and pipe.
So I panic-bought this:
No great street cred, and probably the worst colour I have ever owned. Still, the neighbours love it, and it should spur me on to sorting the Riley stable out for next year.
My main mode of transport only have 2 wheels, but when I need to take 'gear and clobber' I have a 20 year old Golf estate 16 diesel. It has only done 160,000 miles, so is good for many years yet and coming home from Bridgwater yesterday to Uttoxeter it returned 63mpg average for the trip. A 50 litre tank of fuel gives me just over 700 miles! nothing fancy here, carry on as you were!
That's good MPG!
I'm thinking more and more about economy - must by my age. And maybe it's because I sold a W205 C63 Merc recently, but I've been very pleasantly surprised by the economy of my 2016 ND 2.0 MX5. I was getting over 52mpg the other day on a 45-minute motorway run. Very happy with that!
I've had this 530e for 5 months or so and still loving it. Most of my driving is local, so it's usually in electric mode and getting about 85-90mpg.
New addition this week, an S Class Convertible.
Not as sports oriented as the usual choice, but still a fantastic car
Gone for the full EV experience with the new Model Y. Very impressed so far. My son said the acceleration pushed his eyeballs into his head!
Don’t get too many mpg on my new car!

Got a bit carried away at a recent classic auction - 99 SLK 230, 30k miles and full MBSH for its first 20 years. Best of all, no rust to speak of and dinitrol’d underneath.
It’s no sports car (slurry, old school auto) but it’s very smooth for a bit of top down cruising.
Agree regarding the colour Alec, but to my utter amazement this shade of grey has made a comeback! Can`t believe the number of new cars I see in flat boring manky grey, together with black wheels it's an awful combination and I fail to see how anyone finds it appealing.
On a classic like the Morris it makes some sense because it was a period colour, its correct for the car, but belongs in history IMO.
Been driving my wife's A45 quite a bit lately as I'm still searching for a boring car for me (much harder than I expected). Anyhow, the A45 is fabulous in most respects. I am not the biggest fan of the gearbox or the steering feel, but it can't be denied how rapid and surefooted this thing is. I love it. And the driving modes alter it to such an extent that driving in Comfort and Race feels like two completely different cars.
