    From the Bremont blurb:

There are 4 wooden discs inlaid into the back of the watch taken from the desk at which Hawking contemplated the mysteries of the universe. This exquisite chronometer also contains some meteorite to symbolise the cosmos displayed at the centre of the striking hand-finished case back, as well as an etching of stars from the night sky in Oxford on date that Hawking was born. The serial number is printed on paper from original copies of a 1979 seminal research paper commonly referred to as “The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of gravity”.

You're very kind. I've popped it in there in case anyone is looking for similar ideas for their own Black Bay.

This is the ceramic cased version - only available on the rubber strap. I PX’d the blue bracelet s/s version of this watch for it. The s/s models are fantastic, and in this day and age represent “value for money” This one, in my opinion, is on another level.

This arrived on Friday afternoon courtesy of my good friend Michael (MFB Scotland). I think it’s my third BB58 and this one could become a keeper. It’s a full set with bracelet but I prefer it on a strap. Pictures taken today alongside some primitive artwork on the Union Canal by Hermiston in Edinburgh.

I was wondering what the discs were made of.

Given Bremont's history of bits of things, I was expecting them to be bits of his wheelchair!

It's an 05. Won't be changing anything on it apart from the battery.

I'll be getting a new strap but keeping the one it came with.

Thanks. That is cool if you are doing a theme style watch. Nice

Lovely that. I’ve often flirted with picking up a marine 36, they seem to come up used very rarely though and my interest often drifts to something more widely available. Maybe some day…

    Cracking photos

Stowa/Laco made to order models do seem to be rarely sold used, good to see I suppose as it shows their attachment to the original buyer! Mine took 6 weeks to be made which was annoying in that I wanted it within a week lol but hey ho. FedEx only charged £12 for actually duty fees, the rest was the VAT we no longer pay at checkout when buying from Europe.

Having been intrigued by the Alpina brand for years, this turned up from SC on Saturday. Love the big flieger style and white face as well as the soft-knapp leather strap. Very pleased. Shouldn't be buying any more watches at the moment but couldn't resist this one last addition (honest).

Thanks. Looks better than Stowe’s images of it.

  19. #16619
Hah I have yet to see a watch brand use realistic genuine watch photos as opposed to rubbish or faked ones. IWC for example photoshop a watch onto a stock image man's wrist and have that on their product page. The other images being renders. It's frustrating when trying to gauge what a watch looks like in the flesh, so I take my own pics to share lol.

On my way back from picking this up from the post office. Have been looking at it for a while but was never sure it was quite for me. Got it off the bay for a price I couldn't resist and I'm so glad I did, looks absolutely fantastic.

Now to start hunting for different straps!

Well done on your purchase. I've had mine for a little over a year, and it would be a contender for my only watch if I had to sell up (and my usual fare is divers watches!)
Here's a taster for you regards strap options - on an all green Erika's with bronze hardware.

Marginally thinner and the best bracelet to ever come on a Black Bay. Enjoy.

My new one. Not very original, but a lovely thing nonetheless.

Haven’t had an SMP 300 for a while so very happy. Obligatory apologies for the unnecessarily hairy arm.

A clock today. Moves exactly like a spring drive grand seiko and is totally silent but somehow looks cheaper than the fake Rolex clocks you see in turkey.

I hava a thing for Longines and this is the latest addition.
Imported from Japan as I couldn't find one in the UK.

My father day gift from my wife and children; very happy with it I traded my 1 series Cameron and regretted it after words. So it feels good to have this back in the family.

1971 Mark I have ordered a tan strap for it as I think it may suit it better.

I agree , these wear really nicely day to day. Did this model have a different adjustable clasp then as many moaned about the lack of adjustment on the bracelet. The Bronze 58 has an adjustable clasp but I didn’t think the stainless versions did?

I think the only adjustment like that is the BB58 Bronze and the BlackBay Pro. The Pelagos has an adjustable clasp too but a different style.

    Forgot to post this one:

Every time I wear one of Eddie's watches I wonder how on earth he does it at the price he does it, and make it feel worth five times more. Love it!
