WhatsApp has its own backup facility.
Go to Settings > Chat > Chat Backup
On Samsung with SmartSwitch everything else except chat just gets carried over - I'd expect iPhone to be similar?
After 4 yrs of Android ownership - I'm going back to iPhone .................
Does anyone have any recommendations for applications to carry out full transfer of Whatsapp message history to the new iPhone?
I'm currently looking at Dr.Fone as a possibility, but would appreciate any info from someone who has done similar with any app/software?
Cheers!

There is a WhatsApp PC app. Not sure if it acts as a back up but worth a look.
It’s more down to WhatsApp. There’s nothing stopping them having cloud storage for messages or a way to transfer via a cloud sync between devices. They have announced they are working on this for release in the coming months.
I kind of like when I get a new phone and clear out all the nonsense. A bit of declutter! Sorry I know this doesn’t help.
A friend of mine moved from Android to iPhone and I’m sure he said his messages stayed where they were, somehow. I think it was something to do with transferring an Android setup to an iPhone setup and everything synced?
From what I recall when setting up a new iPhone, you get the option to transfer from a previous iPhone and now android phones, which will hopefully do the trick?

When Mrs K moved to an iPhone we couldn't find a way of keeping them. TBH no big deal and mainly junk.
That was a few years ago though and things might be different now.
I’ve done this a few times using Backuptrans
Android WhatsApp to iPhone Transfer - https://www.backuptrans.com/android-...-transfer.html. It costs $19 or so.
Never found a ‘free’ one.

Although it doesn't transfer WhatsApp messages, for the reasons above, there's this general purpose move-to-iOS one as well, which saves a bit of time: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...pple.movetoios
What gets transferred: contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, photo albums, files and folders, accessibility settings, display settings, web bookmarks, mail accounts, and calendars. If they're available on both Google Play and the App Store, some of your free apps will also transfer. After the transfer completes, you can download any free apps that were matched from the App Store.
If I recall correctly, it's best to do this right at the initial iPhone setup, as you can't do it later without resetting/wiping your phone
