I felt nausea coming on as I scrolled these pages ..
I think Casio are making an attempt to broaden their range to appeal to a much wider audience. Gone are the days of multiple colours and flavours of 5600s and 6900s, with Frogmen for those with deeper pockets. Nowadays if you haven’t seen a G shock you like, you probably haven’t spent enough time looking at their range!

Bagged one of these yesterday, it’s so mad!
GBD-800SLG-3; the seventh in the Seven Lucky Gods series named Fukurokuju meaning wealth, allowance and long-life. As the Seventh and final one, it lights up with the K in G-SHOCK. It features a crane and a tortoise which present good fortune. The strap design combines bamboo trees, pine trees and plum trees. The clasp ring has three crescent moons on it representing the three characters of Fuku (wealth), Roku(allowance) and Ju (long-life). These characters are engraved on the back

Just a “heads up” in that if you were looking for a 5610 square, Argos are now starting to sell the new version with the updated module. It does not show up on their system yet as a new version and the staff will not be aware but ask to see the box before you buy to check for the updated model number including “U”. Some stores may still have old stock if you prefer the electro luminescence rather than the more energy efficient LED for the backlight.

Good shout. I did exactly this the other day and picked up a U updated version. Date format flexibility and longer backlight are great upgrades as well as being able to set favourites for World Time. Other enhancements include showing the current time in stopwatch and countdown modes.
I have Bluetooth versions that have all this but there is just something special about the standalone nature of the 5610 where you can check the charge rate and last sync time very easily without relying on a mobile phone link.
Only downside? alarm is still not loud enough. This is where the non solid caseback solar Bluetooth watches have an advantage - loud alarm. All swings and roundabouts in this watch game!!
I might have replied earlier in the thread with a pair, the DW-5600E and GMW-85000, but I have in the last few weeks welcomed the GA-2100 from the Speedmaster raffle, and the GBD-200-1. Love them all, but after wearing the GMW for nearly the whole of lockdown, then the GA for the past few weeks, I think the GBD will now be the go to watch. I bought it off eBay for roughly half price, just because the screen looked so good in pictures. In fact, I ordered it on the same day I first saw a picture of one online. The MiP screen is amazing, crystal clear. In fact, it's just so damned good Casio have crammed far too much in there, far too small. I am ignoring the smartwatch features, because the notifications feature is profoundly broken (I moved a file from phone memory to SD card, and the watch got a notification for every change in the %age of the file transferred!!), and the notification screen has text too small for me to read without glasses. But, for a dual time zone display only (I work for a company based in Austin, so very handy to know the time there), I think it is unbeatable. Slightly bigger than the 5600, but not so much that it jars, and light as a feather compared to the GMW. Until lockdown, I'd never really worn a digical watch "full time", but now I have a drawer full of fancy watches that get very very little wrist time :/
I'm a lover of vintage watches and historic iterations of classic models, so I'm over the moon to have recently picked up an original G-Shock, DW-5000C. New strap & bezel, but with a special heart :)

Sunbathing……
Can't really beat these for value. Cheap as chips to buy the watch and then add an aftermarket kit to replace the resin
It's a steel aftermarket bracelet and bezel. They're pretty impressive quality wise, work the same as the OEM ones with the internal link spring bars etc. I own an OEM version of one of these too and I'd be hard pressed to see a difference in quality on the bracelet between the two, although the clasp operation feels a tad more refined on the OEM version.
Hope you don't mind me asking where you bought those?
Looking for a bracelet or bezel/bracelet set for my newly acquired GW5000. ;-)
Enjoying my new G-5600UE for the last few days. Tough Solar is a nice edition, but not sure about the new/retro bulb backlight. It feels like a step back from the EL, but maybe that's just what I'm used to.
Still, I think it'll knock my 5610 out of rotation!

Bit of a stainless mod.

Nice! I've always liked the idea of a DW5600 bumped up by solar and atomic, while retaining the appearance of a standard DW5600. Of course Casio don't make such a thing and yours is the nearest. But it's great to see that there's a U version of the G-5600, and it looks really good.
But in the absence of a GW-5600 I'll have to stick with a GW-5000 and I'm waiting for the GW-5000U to come back into stock.
New solar and Bluetooth 2100 just arrived.
