A Kahuna surf watch as a 10/11 year old from memory
My first watch was a black faced Oris of some sort but my second watch was a Seiko 5 given to me by my parents when I was in my early teens - in the ‘70’s
I still have it. It needs a service and repair to the rotor and was what lead me to this forum in the first place. Several watch purchases later I still haven’t had the Seiko repaired : ((

Some sort of timex ironman. But my first real watch was an SKX173 that I still have.

Had it on a 'typical-'70s' leather wideband straps (about 40mm wide)
I sense a lot of us - might have owned one in our youth (if you are of that era)?
Mine was a Shira digital melody alarm watch in the mid 1980s that played "You'll Never Walk Alone".

Avia Polar Star, bought for me by my dad. I still have it.
My earliest watch was a Disney one, purchased for my 8th birthday, but in truth I rarely wore it and I didn't wear any watch through my school years. The first watch I picked out for myself and actually wore regularly was this Casio Edifice. Bought this at some point during university for a bargain price and I wore it for years (like a normal person.. ha) - did everything, battery never needed replacing, could swim in it, light and comfortable.
It was a black plastic digital watch, totally blacked out screen with one pusher that displayed the time in red when pressed. I sat so close to the electric fire that the screen warped and that was the end of that. Must have been around 1978/79?

First watch I can remember was an analogue Timex with expanding steel bracelet. I lost it and was devastated. My parents refused to get me another watch. Maybe that’s what started my watch obsession?

Octopussy watch in the early 80s that required me to collect Smiths crisps packets.
And I know from a previous thread some years ago that I’m not the only one on here who had one of those, driving their parents around the bend constantly pressing the button to play the 007 tune !
My first one was a 7 melody no name digital watch from my auntie, that no longer exists. The second one, and my first buy was this Casio at the age of 14. I shot 4 years of pocket money on it driven by a sudden urge, my mum nearly chucked me out :D

I have a vague memory of what I think was a white dialled Timex around 1977-78. I wasn't allowed to wear it to school, so therefore probably didn't wear it very much.
I was ridiculously excited to be given a digital watch a couple of years later (aged about 10ish). It seemed so cool and modern.
How on earth can you remember back that far ?
I struggle to remember Christmas just gone.
I think mine must have been the above basic casio digital, then a dodgy baby G. First proper watch I'd say was my Seiko SKx007

First watch ever - f91w
First adult watch when I started getting interested in watches - Hamilton Khaki King. Still got it.
First watch I remember wearing is a black Swatch of some flavour, a present from my folks, I think it had a pretty hard life on my wrist as a kid, but it did last a good few years.
After I killed the Swatch, got an upgrade to a Citizen Eco Drive which back in those days struggled to get enough charge under my shirt cuff and winter days, used to have to top it up a couple of days a week I think! Unfortunately I smashed the crystal against a shelf at work in a supermarket as a student and there were only 2 movements available in Europe to fix it apparently. First one was DOA and they broke the second one trying to fit it *eyeroll*.
Thankfully every watch after that has fared a little better.
I never liked those LED - glow red when you press the button - watches. I thought that was rubbish that you had to push the button to see the time.
Got an early LCD watch that was that was about a week's holiday wages. But somehow the battery was loose and switching off, so the jeweler packed it out so the battery would have a better contact. Can't remember what make it was.
They were the 'ultimate tech' at the time (like the calculators which used that tech)
Yes they were, and I had forgotten about the calculators.
Another Timex here, complete with it's original strap.
I remember it well as my older sister also got a watch that was smaller and without a date which seemed unfair to me at the time.
Tissot PRC 200 quartz!Think I paid £120 or so for it at a high street jewellers.
This was a gift from my dad for passing my O levels in 1976.
I rediscovered it in a box when I was clearing out the loft before Xmas.
After some research on Google I discovered the name and there was one for sale on EBay.
So I purchased the watch at £80 so that I could switch the bezel onto my watch.
The bezel I had knocked off within 2 weeks of wearing !
After a clean with soap and toothbrush , polywatch to take some scratches off the face and a polish with cape cod I was pleased with the result. Then sourced some new spring bars and refinished the bracelet with a scouring pad.
Just need to source a new clasp now to fit as the old is worn and won’t catch.
Still keeps good time after all these years parked up.

On the subject of Exam results my Father took me to Bravingtons Jewellers near Kings Cross to buy me a watch for passing my 11plus so probably around 1963. I chose a “Renown” model (one of their “own” branded watches) I had it repaired/ overhauled by The Watchbloke a few years ago and occasionally wear it. Cheers, JohnB4

First watch was a Timex Hopalong Cassidy I wore in the Infants school.
Later on my Dad bought me a gold plated Smiths 7 jewel with sub second for Christmas.

Mine was an Ingersoll watch back in the 70's. I think it had a black face with white numerals and was a manual wind. Black strap. Not quite sure what happened to it...
Another Timex Hopalong Cassidy, which I believe came complete with saddle (my memory could be wrong it was nearly 60 years ago).
This was my first 3 hander I got it back in 88 ish
A lovely old battered Longines that came to me as a kid when my Dad died. Got nicked by an evil girlfriend - at some point I'm going to go down the vintage Longines rabbit hole to find a replacement.
