I don't keep any non -air guns but my son that lives in the US has just ordered a Sig Sauer 9mm to go with his AR15.
Looking forward to trying them out when I can get back to America.
Cheers,
Neil.

Son just got in touch, it's a P365.
Cheers,
Neil.
Intro time, I am new to the forum but Eddie set me up to get in.
I have shot all my life and written and photographed for the shooting press all over the world. I used to do regular features for Steve Comas when he was editor of Gun Digest, then he got the job of editor on SAFARI magazine and got me to do features for him on there too. Cartridges of the World was another regular US title for me and occassionally Field and Stream and Grays Sporting Journal but mostly it was the European shooting press I worked for: Shooting Times, Shooting Gazette, Sporting Gun, Shooting News (which then became Countryman's Weekly after the office got fire bombed by the ALF), The Field, Country Life, then Paul Parey Publishing in Germany used me regularly on Wild und Hund, Jagd Weltvide, Jager, Halali, Jakt in Norway, Diana in Italy, Pleisire de Chasse in France. I also worked for airgun titles, when Nigel Allen was editor of Airgunner and went on to start Airgun Shooter, I worked for him and a bit for the current incumbant Mike Morton.
One feature I did years ago was on Giles Whittome and his Mammoth 700NE falling block rifle - I even got to shoot it, with all of its 160ft-lbs of recoil! I got to do the C of the W piece on the then two new belted magnums from H&H, the 400 and 450, taking the muzzle energy of the 375 and maintianing it at 100m with the 400 and then taking that muzzle energy to 100m with the 450. They were lovely and smooth to shoot. I still have a box of the hand made cartridges from that day here.
Another experience was shooting pronghorn in New Mexico, I got lucky in the lottery for a tag for their 2-day season and shot with John Lazzeroni. It was a funny story, I used to go over and guide regularly on an outfit in Mississippi for white tails and so was used to travelling with my rifle (accurised Heym 7x64), but the importation rules changed and the customs officer took my rifle off me as I landed.... given the circumstances I asked if I could get it back on my way out and it just so happened he was on duty for my outward flight and I did get it back. Anyway, not having a rifle John Lazzeroni loaned me one of his, a 7mm Firebird, to use fo rthe hunt. I spent the first day photographing for a feature and just had the one day to fill my tag. The others drove and fired off the bonnet or over the door. I wasn't having any of that and insisted I stalked in to my quarry and told them to sit still and not spook them. There is a minimum size of 14" in this territory and the guide told me which bucks in the group were legal, they were staggered at me crawling in to close the range to about 350 yards, but I got my buck. John also gave me set of his collector cartridges, again I have them here.
Following my motorbike crash in 2016 I have had to give up as my shoulder won't take it now, I still use pain killers almost daily, but I do still shoot airguns and have my HW77 I bought in August 1985 from Exeter Tackle Centre. Dave Theobald built me a Tyrolean Rapid 12/200 in September 1994 and a long barrelled Fenman from April 1994, also in .20 those are my main field guns. I started a bell target club here in Uttoxeter and we shoot on Monday evenings, I had a 300s to start with but sold it when an Anschutz LG380 came available and also a FWB601 SSP. Visitors are welcome to come have a go, we shoot upstairs in a local pub club. The history of bell target shooting is worth reading - it has been published a few years ago, I called it 'Beer and Bullets' https://www.airgunmagazine.co.uk/fea...rget-shooting/
Struggling to load pictures. I will have to go and revist them.... even at minimal resolution they are too big. I have resized them from 8Mb each down to Kb but they are still too big.
Another to add to the cowboy guns

My HW77 that I bought new in August 1985, I still have and use it.
The Feinwerkbau 601, single stroke pneumatic target rifle.
My Theoben Fenman with a long barrel for the .20 calibre (10" instead of 8"), Dave Theobald built it for me in April 1994.
The Anschutz LG380 that I use for bell target shooting. We had an away match last evening at the Vernon Arms in Spondon, we just pipped them!
A cold day at the range on Friday but still enjoyable with the 98

Peter, I'm probably in the wrong part of the country, but who knows.
Two questions:
i] do they not have feeding issues? Super-fast is great but the ability to fire more is far better.
ii] is the Ruger striker fired? I am not a Glock fanboi, but the more books I read about them, the more that they appear to be the answer, with a usable pistol smaller than a J frame S&W and consistent first to second shot firing.
actually, three questions - iii] why .380?
Keeping it UK friendly my HW97 in 0.177 calibre and sub 12ft lbs at my shooting club earlier today...

∆∆∆∆∆∆∆ very nice!!
Just acquired this little beauty, 2nd hand Weirhauch 80, know nothing about air guns but happy and can hit a tin can at 15m partner wants rid of rabbits and squirrels in orchard, not sure I can pull the trigger on rabbits but squirrels are on red alert
The barrel seems a little discoloured but not rusty, any advice if its an issue appreciated

If you are going to control squirrels humanely with an airgun, you need to be able to shoot a much smaller target than a can consistently. You should be confident of a clean kill, not a wounding shot. If in doubt, call in a pest control expert.
HW80s are good quality guns but springers are inherently more difficult to shoot accurately than PCPs and that means even more chance of wounding - not something you would want I'm sure.
Springers make shooting far more enjoyable, PCP can be a touch sterile as they can be so precise.
Zero your scopes to whatever range you'll be shooting from, consistently get a tidy group then unleash lead hell on the greys.
They are such a destructive species to indigenous plant and animal populations.
Happy shooting bud, enjoy the journey to plugging tree rats humanely

I re blued barrels back in the eighties, simple to do, wipe on with a cloth but wear gloves, re do as and when needed.
Sorry for the late reply.
No feeding issues.
It is striker-fired.
I'm not a Glock fanboi either - - to me they look clunky and plastic-y; plus Glock isn't big into micro handguns.
With modern ammo (like the Honeybadger), the .380 is more than capable as a home defense weapon.
Nevertheless, I got greedy and bought myself Ruger's 9mm (laser) version of the identical handgun. I also bought Ruger's 9+1 extended magazine. I gave the .380 to my oldest son.
I wouldn't go shooting any live animal until I was 5p piece at least
Personally I'd draw around a slug and use that as my benchmark
3 out of 5, let's go!!

Thanks all for advice on both counts, maybe I should have bought a multi shot rifle and then half a chance of getting that kill :)
Think all vermin is hibernating so by the spring Ill hopefully be a sharp shooter if I havent been assigned to the front line over in Europe before then
Just got this AA HFT500 and added a fixed mag Sightron S11 scope for BR shooting and loving it.
Always loved the tactical look and have a FX Dreamtac and a AGT Vixen but this is a different level.
