41mm SS Sub? Or Sub Date if you need to know the date?
Ok guys and ladies. I have only a few weeks left to do a deal in the UK before I leave these shores for finer clement times.
Few parameters:
- something that would be casual and able to take a dip in the pool or sea.
- size wise - I get on with anything between 36mm - 43mm more importantly <=50mm across lug-lug
- price not really an issue
- prefer not vintage
- resale value not an issue as won’t be able to trade on SC from EU
Recommendations?? I actually saw the 007 No time to die and looks kinda fun.
Martyn.

I like that new Ulysse Nardin Lemon Shark but I know the movement isn’t very fancy.
One of the power reserve Eberhards is always quite fun and Eberhard have always been a bit of a cult classic. Mind you:

Hi Martyn, if you like the look of the No Time To Die Seamaster, go for it. I really like mine - it’s so light and the bracelet is excellent. If you can get the fit right, you can barely feel you’re wearing a watch. I previously had the white dialled Seamaster 300m and the difference in thickness is noticeable - the 007 version definitely wears closer to the wrist. I personally really like the grey colour of the titanium with the all brushed finish and matte dial too. A couple of photos for you, including a wrist shot on my 17cm wrist. The colours of the watch change quite dramatically depending on the lighting.
Wear your Sub!
Rado Captain Cook for some thing cheaper and fun. How about the bronze one? Great beach watch.
Or blancpain FF of some kind if you're looking for more haute horology.
Or less divery....bvlgari octo? I've not looked at spec/sizes, just throwing ideas.
What about a…
AP ROO Diver
PP Aquanaut
Omega Apollo 8
Zenith Chronomaster Sport
Or for something a little different…
Bulgari Octo Finissimo

100m WR nice and light. Reasonable power reserve.
Bvlgari octo or Ulysse Nardin Regatta (if you can find one).
would be my first choices.
Breguet Marine on rubber...

I think of the suggestions thus far that GS Quartz Diver looks superb.
Slightly left field but what about the re-release Airain Type XX?

Well I thought you would get my sense of humour, after 18 months of virtual GTGs.
As to the Octo I tried on the ultra thin titanium version a couple of years ago. Thought it too thin and light and only had 30m WR.
The more recent SS versions correct all of those aspects from my perspective…
Worth a look I reckon. However I think it really is one to try on before buying.

Have you considered the GP Laureato Absolute? 44m but wears smaller, titanium and 300m water resistant? Less than 50mm lug to lug.
Martyn you know it makes sense

The quartz DS divers are a great option but, if money's no issue, then I would go for the titanium spring drive version (SBGA231) without hesitation. A definite step up quality-wise (imo), a touch smaller, much lighter and more comfortable than the quartz and you'd have a spring drive in the collection. Lug to lug is something like 50.2cm iirc but the case shape, lightness and curved lugs mean it sits very comfortably. I had no problems with it at all on my 6.75in wrist.
Since you're leaving Blighty for good (and who can blame you...), how about the closest thing to a British watch on the market -
42mm and 300m WR; other dial/strap/bracelet options, £2795 (no doubt discountable).
In the spirit of the forum tradition of steaming in without actually reading the OP, I recommend a 1950s 34mm JW Benson.
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
I like this one.

Have you considered something Portuguese ?
IWC Portuguese Yacht Club IW390502

Something Portuguese, you say?
That would need to be something from the Prometheus Watch Co.
www.prometheuswatch.com
It would likely be pre-owned though...

Ulysse Nardin Torpilleur top of my wish list currenly .. I owned the original UN Marine Chronometer 1846 years ago but too tichy to stay around at only 38mm .. this fixes the size issue, somewhat special all in-house movement too. These are 42mm, was a 44mm handwound on offer too but not on the current UN web site.
