I like the simplicity of that, what size and is there a time scale?

It's 36mm and I have it now. Just finishing off the pictures and then got to get the booklet printed.

I'm liking the dial and the way it works with the markers. Very tempting. Nice one Eddie.

Ive just read the news letter and was pleased to see that some of the Commando watches will be offered with acrylic crystals. That's cool.

Good and bad, good because well it’s gonna be great to see how it looks with acrylic. But bad because well I shouldn’t

Saying that though I do love the heft and feel and look of the sapphire on the current models so I’m already a happy chappy. I also don’t mind the milky ring

Where does the newsletter mention acrylic? I love the dial and the hands are much more balanced (the reason I sold my first version). i'd prefer if it was on the new Everest bracelet.

Eddie - any plans to extend the plexi option to the rest of the Everest range?!

Is the lume on the tropical dial a different more vintage yellow or the standard greenish lume. It looks more faux vintage patina which I like a lot. Just wasn’t sure if it’s an optical illusion?

I’ would be curious to see how it would look with the crown logo pushed up in place of the 12 o’clock triangle and the smiths text pushed up a notch. More like the original.

I saw this mentioned on Instagram, the lume is the same as on the Everest.

Thanks for the confirmation. The tropical dial colour may work better with the standard lume.
Time will Tell. No pun intended :)

Yes possibly a very white lume say BGW9. But yes it will I’m sure it’ll look great, just not sure if I’d rather this or the previous standard black model, although I do like the slightly shortened hour hand but wasn’t fussed that it was longer on the previous model.

Towards the end of the ID guys' review IIRC he refers to the possibility there may be a 39 mm version of the Commando, might this happen Eddie?

You'd better ask ID Guy, it's never been my plan.

Will the Tropical Dial Commando models be available when the shop next opens Eddie, or delayed until the end of October as mentioned on the website, also is there a new batch of the black dial Everests in at all and if so, will they be available as well.

There will be some black dial Everest next time plus the remainder of the Caribbeans. ( might hold the Commando back and launch it together with the Monopusher.

Question about ordering. Do we now have to have a account on Timefactors to place an order or can we place an order without having one?

You don't have to create an account in advance to order but it speeds things up at the checkout if you do.

I’ve been comparing the original black dial commando and the tropical dial and also the Everest and have noticed a couple of things I hadn't seen before. The De Luxe text is slightly larger on the black dial commando than on the Everest models. Looks like the tropical dial has smaller de luxe text too. The Everest and black commando dials also look to be a very slightly different shade of black. The black commando dial looks a little darker. Were those changes intentional or most likely just a manufacturing difference, that wasn’t intended?

I’m starting to really like the openness of the commando dial. The watch looks like it wears slightly bigger but somehow gives off the impression of a more elegant look. I’m wondering if the tropical dial will be similar or will the brown fume type design make the watch appear bigger than a black dial. 🤔

I am turning more & more towards the tropical dial Commando, especially now that the hour hand has been slightly reduced in length bringing the hand set more in keeping with the original watch.

I also think that the brown fume dial helps with the larger negative space on the dial due to the 3,6,9, being pushed slightly further out towards the minute track compared to the Everest dial.

The tropical dial Commando may just become the NEW Everest I feel.

As for how many Commando pieces will be available when the shop opens and how fast they are sold, remains to be seen.

  47. #47
I’m in two minds about it, I like that the hour hand has been shortened. And I do like the fume dial, im just not sure how I’d feel in person in comparison to say the black dial. Will it pair well with straps? won’t be as versatile as black of course but I’ve never owned a brown dial watch. Will I think it’ll look too busy due to the additional colour? black & brown dial, white text and then the X1 C3 lume? I don’t really see the 6429 commando anymore as it’s brown dial differentiates it a lot more from the Rolex 6429 than the original black dial commando.

For those who’d like less of a homage to the 6429 I think this would be perfect, reminds me more of a mixture of pieces, the hands now remind me of a Datejust. The dial more like those seen on the new alpinists without the compass and then the 369 explorer dial is in there too.
