Very pleased that this arrived safely after quite a long journey, in more than one sense.

(Forgive the dust etc., the morning sun was too good to waste).

Well, the postman got here really early this morning, I'm glad to say. I recently bought a Seiko Presage Cocktail Time from the forum which sold last night to a lucky new owner. The watch surprised me as a) I don't normally wear dress watches although I do I admire many and b) in just how smitten I became very quickly. The watch dragged me into a YouTube rabbit hole that culminated in me absolutely having to sate my long-held desire for a Grand Seiko. I felt determined to bag a Spring Drive but, as I looked through video after video, my admiration for their quartz movements grew to such an extent, I felt I wanted to experience a top-end HAQ which surely has to be one of the best in the business. I had never realised the level of thought that goes into these movements. Sure, I'd heard they grew their own quartz crystals for the movements but I hadn't known about the level of hand-finishing nor any of the copious features they build into the watch including thermo-compensation. Xellos99 then posted his black dial 40mm SBGV207 the other day but, after realising I wasn't going to keep the lovely Longines that landed with me from Binsull on Saturday, I knew I had enough to put towards a brand new watch with my preferred champagne dial. After a little research, I realised they had the same watch out now with the newer 9F85 movement (independently moveable hour hand) and so I negotiated a deal with a UK AD on Sunday afternoon et, voila! SBGP001.

    Smitten!

Thanks all for the kind comments. I am indeed grinning like a big basket of chips with extra salt and vinegar. I’ve been fascinated by these watches for a long time and this is an extra special one. If I can take some decent photos I’ll do a bit more of a write up at some point.

That looks quite a watch. Congratulations. I will look forward to the write-up.

I knew a successful purchase of an SBGX337 from Chrono24 a month ago might lead to more buys. This SBGX335 has just arrived from Japan, thoughtfully adjusted to BST :)

Nice to see a few more LW's on here. I honestly think there isn't a more comfortable watch than an LW on rubber! They are a joy to wear. Congratulations.

It's pale blue. I believe it is designed to look like the reflection of the blue sky on the snow at GS headquarters in Japan. Just a little different but makes the watch quite fascinating!

Fancied trying one of the 60s GMT homages for ages but never really found the right one. MkII was appealing but they’re too pricey I think. This was in the U.K., so appealing with no further sting in VAT from Gnomon, money paid and here the following day.
I have to say I really like it, great look, lumed bezel and a decent size. Will size bracelet later, just chucked it on a NATO for now.

    Continuing with the Steinhart theme.

Nice when a WTB delivers. Was offered this 2014 watch last week from the original buyer who had only put it on a few times. Full set including the original leather strap and bracelet. This was an either or and he had paid for both. Looks nearly new and timing is bang on, under 1 sec in 24 hours.

You can't beat these older Mark 1 Ocean Two watches. Still keeping an eye out for the other colours though. I did sell the Orange version on here a few years back, would happily buy that back if the opportunity arose.

That looks great - a little quirky, which allows itself its own identity, A quick look on their site shows they're still producing a variant on this. What makes the Mark 1 stand out?

Basically the watch has been updated over the years and is usual in Watch collecting circles, people take a shine to the discontinued models.

The Mark 1 as you can see has very fine bezel edge and crown edge engraving and is not that practical at all, difficult to hold and turn. The first incarnation was available in a series of colourways.

The Mark 2 fixed this with a more brutal edging and they took the opportunity to include sapphire case backs as standard and lift the price a little. These were only done in Black and White.

A new model has just been announced (Mark 3) with numbers added to the dial and the hands changed. Note the date window tucked into the 3. Not sure I've seen that before, but I'm sure someone will know where Steinhart got it from.

This bargain arrived yesterday courtesy of a recent PSA on here. Excuse the unset date. Like it a lot more than I thought I would! Bought with the intention of doing a hand swap and that will be happening soon as I can get my hands (ahem) on them

Great watch that wears well. These were a bargain. I was a mug who paid retail when the first came out! I intended to change the hands, but never got around to it. I'd be interested to see the results. Enjoy.

really impressed with it so far - finishing, alignment, timekeeping all seem spot on. Don’t even mind the hands as much as I thought I would, but can’t wait to get the new ones in.

I am still not convinced by isofrane straps, they seem to tug and pull at my skin. I think i will be looking for an alternative, the NATOs are nice, almost Omega quality.

I wasn’t a fan of the isofrane when I bought one. Didn’t see the fuss compared to cost but I’ll happily take one if attached to a watch

I feel the same happy to have it included in the package but there are better straps out there.
Tried it on the green NATO, it looks great, however the nato is thick and difficult to thread trough the keepers, it also makes the head sit a bit too high - its already a thick watch.
I have also tried a cheapo MN style strap. Its a much better fit looks good, I think i will go for an Erikas for it.

    Edit:
I have tried these but I think we have a winner

Got an olive green borealis iso waiting for it. I find them far comfier than the real deal.

Green on pvd is always a winner

Got a call from my Tudor AD contact this morning to see if I wanted to check out a sneaky preview of the new Tudor releases.

Entered a deserted Trafford Centre, sent the code, shutters up and straight in to viewing the black and white Chrono's as well as the 925 silver BB58.

Couldn't resist the white dial "Baytona" - sorry - anyway that's what I came away with and it looks fabulous to my eyes, in the flesh.

The black is lovely as well but the sub dials were more silver than I expected and I didn't love the contrast date window.

    Few pics;
