29 from that list.
As someone that enjoys travelling a lot (well I did) I thought I’d been to a lot of countries so decided to add them up. Easier said than done though as when you google it there are apparently 193 or 197 countries in the world, or even up to 215, depending on whose compiling the list and whether disputed etc etc. I used this one in the end (doesn’t show Wales, Scotland, England or NI as individuals) though if you want to count from another list feel free

My granddad was at sea for 40 years as a Chief Engineer and had been to just about every country in the world that wasn’t land locked.
53 for me.
Curious as to if there’s members here over 100.
53 is good going I’d say.
Do cruise stops count?
Me? Depressingly few - maybe 7?
But a guy I deal with through work has about 8 to go for the full set. Although, the goal posts keep changing as new counties are formed!
11 For me. Happy to repeat visit countries I'm familiar with and only couple more I'd really like to see.

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
For me it's how many of those countries would you not want to go to...probably over half of them.
14 for me.
Got some travelling to do.

21 for me, surprised at that many tbh...
39 + Scotland, Wales
42 for me. Feel like it's too low imho (50 years old)
59 for me from that list, which does seem to have a lot of places missing. I use an app called Been, on that my count is 80 odd.
I'm at 50.
Desperately want to visit South America!
Only 22 from that list.. thought it'd be more!
17 for me.
10 most several times.

24 for me from this list. Turkey was just a connecting flight which is very disappointing as Istanbul is top of my list of places to visit.
36 for me, but there are only 5 more I’d like to visit.
71 from the list. Having had a lengthy military career certainly upped the count.
16 for me and loved visiting the majority of them.
44 for me with a lot more to come when this COVID is all over
20 I think, I'm not counting a few that I only changed planes in (and didn't leave the airport), and I refuse to count Norway on the basis I was so young that I have no memory of going there at all!

A lowly 12 for me, think I need to get out more
35 for me
63 for me. Some weird ones via work.
Enjoyed (almost) every one!
Wales and England hahaha.... Im no tourist or ex-pat
45....quite a lot before I was 10.
39 from that list. Didn’t start travelling until relatively recently.
43. Most notched up via work and a years backpacking. Plus many in Europe.
Out of all of them I really want to go back to Japan for an extended tour.
I am 41, missed a few this year with no travel, hardly visited the Far East
I'm just into triple figures (I count UK as one and include Taiwan and Kosovo which are not on that list). It's a few more if I include Overseas Territories such as the Falkland Islands. Intentions to expand further have been thwarted over the past year and I'll probably slow down for a bit.

48.
But 49 if you include the Vatican City (not in the OP list), and 50+ if counting ‘Home Nations’ separately.
All as an adult. Most of them visited multiple times each in Europe - following a football team helps, I guess.
Huge omissions/gaps in South America, the Far East & Africa that I really want to address, but a young family & Covid lockdowns restricts me nowadays.
I really miss getting happily lost in foreign cities, having new experiences, seeing incredible sights, trying strange food, chatting with locals and lazily sipping a cold beer in a square somewhere.
From the list, not counting the UK of course:
Antigua and Barbuda
Barbados
China
Croatia
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Grenada
Italy
Japan
Montenegro
Netherlands
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Lucia
Spain
Switzerland
United States of America
I would always say that I went to Hong Kong rather than China, but since HK isn't listed I guess I've been to China twice for the purposes of this exercise. Also, I would have thought that Martinique counts as a country; since it isn't listed I guess that was another trip to France, officially.
Someone bought me one of those scratch-off maps of the world, scratch off every country you've been to. Ten. Took me about 3 minutes. Good job America and Germany are quite big ones...
31, many of them sh*tholes.
16 with lots of multiple visits, especially in and around alpine regions.
12 plus Scotland & Wales.
40 for me. And some of those many times. Glad I don't have to do that cr*p anymore.
I used to keep a record on Amcharts and from there my total of countries is 107.
But when you look at it visually there's a lot of the world that I haven't visited - and of those countries that I have been to there's lots of parts I haven't seen.

19, surprisingly! Officially 20, but East Germany and West Germany are now one.
45, though mostly single days which is hardly a claim to have seen a country (sometimes barely more than a bit of lunch!)

That tool really shows that it's a big old world to explore. We try to make the most of regional travel from wherever we are based, the map is reasonably well coloured in with the biggest gaps in the 'stans, Central and West Africa. Unsurprisingly we've barely scratched the surface in a couple of the larger countries. I'm mildly frustrated at not getting to Paraguay when living in South America and Laos when based in South East Asia, but I remind myself that it is always good to leave somewhere new to return to.
Transited a fair few others in Africa and the Middle East but that definitely doesn't count.

I just cannot recall the amount of travelling I have done in the last twenty years. It is true that travel broadens the mind but even I have become conscious that flying for recreational purposes is an act of total selfishness, it is one of the worse things any individual can do to screw up the environment. Yes it is true, once things settle down, I will be flying to Spain with all the other selfish hypocrites.
