A front loader or snap on case back would be better. The screws would be far too fiddly especially for us with fat hands and sausage fingers.
Apart from that it look's nice.

Cute, reckon it'll sell like hot cakes.
Now you’re talking Eddie, that’s my planned CWC order on hold....

Hmmmm
Can’t say I am a fan of the Fat Arrow on this one
Whilst the rendering looks good I think you will be competing with a crowded market place, Hamilton and CWC have their versions out already.
I am sure I will be in the minority though

Yes yes yes
Is that a quartz movement on the spec sheet?

Lovely as it is if it's priced right it could potentially trump the CWC w10 which in turn trump's the Hamilton mellor for price also.
I was thinking before loading the page could this be a small seconds dirty dozen but then again the navigator and 29a fulfill those brackets sort of.
This w10 will sell no problem I think

Case shape and size looks very similar to the Bulova Oceanographer I'm wearing right now - a very comfy wear. This one (not my photo):

I like the idea but not for me. I had a CWC T20 and moved it on.
Hamilton and CWC do one with similar dimensions. How about a 38/39mm width with a 44/45 lug to lug. Give it a 20mm lug width. Yes, less true to the original. However, more appealing to the average and above average wrist size.

Looks great, but I would want it with C3. Nothing against sand coloured lume, except that it simply doesn't work as well.
One of the best things about my 29a is that I can read the time in the dark without charging it.
Don't mind the idea of a slightly larger watch, but any bigger than about 38mm and you lose the essence of the original.
For me the essence of the original skipped merrily out of the door hand-in-hand with the domed crystal!
Personally I’d be very happy with the old radium on this type of watch. However, I’m not quite sure what a Smiths version of the W10 brings to the table when you still have a selection of versions available with the original manufacturer’s logo on the dial, visually correct crystals, and relatively cheaply too if you opt for quartz over mechanical?????
Not one for me this time unfortunately :(

Good summary and my thoughts too. The Mellor sold well for CWC AFAIK. It is a pretty faithful recreation of the original so good heritage and back story. The T20 (quartz) hasn't sold as well. The "Lost Boy" was a nice piece of marketing but doesn't seem as attractive to buyers.
Looks great, Eddie, although I would prefer a Miyota automatic engine.
Eddie
Have you thought about making this a Precista?
I think it might sit better as a re issue of the ‘lost navigator’ which I am sure most collectors think originated from Precista
I know you are trying to build the smith brand but Precista sits a bit truer than Smiths on this one? (Don’t forget Precista)
You could copy the dial from the ‘lost’ it has quite a nice type face, the lume is nearly always green on them so you could use C3. I think it could be a winner

I think I would prefer the Precista logo rather than the Smiths.
Just out of curiosity, why do we not see this logo so much these days?
I've been wanting the Hamilton H76419931 for a while - and figured I'd get it eventually. Hard to say whether this would be my preference without seeing more than renders, but I'd rather have the Smiths logo than the Hamilton - though the pebbled texture on the Hamilton is pretty sharp. Either way, this is great stuff.
There's been a tweak.

I think that caseback is better. Could be a real winner for me this one....

Case back is definitely an improvement. I'm starting to come around to this watch. Quartz, 10ATM, Sapphire, might make it a great everyday wearer. I agree with other that Precista might be a better logo. Would the price point be similar to the PRS-10?
I'm fine with the aged lume. I think it would look great on the proposed Commando with the tropical dial
My Mellor-72 is getting a lot of wrist time at the moment. The things that I don't like about the CWC are the numerals (which are quite large and from an aesthetic viewpoint do not balance harmoniously with the hands and other markings) and the acrylic crystal (which looks nice but makes me nervous).
I usually avoid quartz, but could make an exception for this.

How hard it is to please everyone... My humble opinion:
- Aged lume works here. I would not use it for all watches but it is nice to have different options.
- I'm all in for a flat sapphire. I would take it any day of the week over a milky ring or the mineral glass on the Hamilton.
- I'm OK with a cheap quartz movement, again it is nice to have options.
- I prefer the Smiths brand over Precista just because I think the logo looks better. I personally don't care about it being period correct or not. I think Precista wouldn't be correct either with this case, but I could be wrong.
- Size... is hard. I prefer my watches rather small, but I've seen the Hamilton and it really is tiny...
As it stands now, I would try my chances to get one at 14:00 on any given Sunday :)
For me Smiths not Precista, and 38mm not 36mm, definitely not 40mm. But saying that Eddie is obviously doing very well selling 36mm watches so fully understand the motivation to carry on doing so, and the cushion case has more meat than than the Everest and Navigator cases so will probably wear slightly larger. Quartz is good also.
I like the style of this watch and have often eyed the Hamilton and the CWC versions.
I've never heard of the 'lost navigator' but found this an interesting read?

I like this as an concept, and I’d probably try to pick one up. Given the W10 market saturation from CWC and Hamilton, I think I’d love this watch and definitely chase after one if it were given a bit more of the “Lost Navigator” treatment (flat top the 3, remove the Smiths, hands and quartz I could go either way). I think you could use a Smiths “S” or a Precista “P” on the crown for identification purposes.
I think one of the greatest things about Eddie’s watches over the years is the lore in which many of them are steeped. This would seem a great opportunity to utilize that same philosophy to better bring to light story of the “Lost Navigator” and the possibility that either Smiths or Precista were the original maker.

Lost Navigator; every day is a school day.
I'm still hoping you'll remake one of the old Smiths divers watch complete with oversize hour hand.
Eddie you gotta slow down mate!
Looks good but should be TA not FA.
I like it and love the broad arrow....really balances the dial.
It would be amazing with a nice high grade movement like the Navigator.
It would put it in a different league.
Well done Eddie.

I have the Astral diver and it really is a crappy watch.

The movement is nice: cal. 60465E (some hack, some don't; it's pot luck)
The cases (and almost certainly the dials + hands) were made made by in France by "TK" (Theodore Kagen Corp.) who seem to have supplied any number of marques and makes, as well as replacement dials and cases for repairing damaged originals. (They also had offices and maybe manufacturing facilities in New York.)
These are cheap generic skindivers and turn up with all sort of movements in them and names on them. e.g. Aquastar, Elgin, Aqualung, Wittnauer, Yema, Stowa, Jaquet-Girard and Rodania.
At this point in the game the PRS-82 at 40mm... and with an ETA!
Costume jewellery. Ouch!!!
