Hope she's OK when the meds wear off. Was the crate something that was stipulated by the vet? Also, how is she walking at the moment?

First day today without the pain meds, and she’s been a bit restless but not obviously in pain. She’s gone to sleep tonight ok, so we’ll see how she is tomorrow and speak with the vet if need be. We were given some sedatives, but haven’t had to use them as yet.
The crate was stipulated by the vet; she says at least three weeks crate rest, possibly up to six. She doesn’t want her jumping up, going upstairs or doing anything too boisterous that could affect the bone.
The surgery she had entailed the bone being cut and splayed open. The danger is the bottom of the bone fracturing which would then require plating.
All things considered, she is doing remarkably well. She’s eating well and her bowel movements are fine.
She is tentatively putting weight on the leg, and is managing to walk ok, but we have to keep her on a lead and carry her to the garden when she needs to go, all again advised by the vet.
One week down, eleven to go!!

Thanks for the update and here's hoping that it's only 3 weeks crate rest, poor thing. I suspect (hope) ours is perhaps having a less serious procedure as we haven't been prepared for any of this.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

The procedure she had is called TTA Rapid. There is another one they can do which is cheaper and not as invasive, but wasn't recommended for ours.

    Meet Elvis.

In our home since last Saturday. So far, so good. Housetraining goes perfectly. Only one ‘accident’ in 3.5 days. Sleeping in a bench works great as well.

He looks a beauty and my wife’s favourite breed of dog... we had a Rotty X Dogue de Bordeaux and he was just the best dog ever.

I’m sure you’ll have bundles of fun with Elvis, he certainly doesn’t look All Shook Up

One more rustic Dutch scene. (And yes, I wear these clogs (klompen) when working in the garden. Normal dress-up here for rural people).

Millie's Wolfheart works a treat for our lot.

Good quality, gives small, solid poops and no upset tummies.

Certainly not the cheapest but as with most things in life, you get what you pay for....

    Cheers,

    Adam.

We also feed our Labrador Millies. Good food, just be sure to take into account what ratio of meat you want depending on your dogs activity level.

When I had my first greyhound many moons ago (about 26 years ago to be exact) she developed a very "fragile" stomach for some reason or other. The vet suggested feeding her on Chappie as being the cheapest (but it doesn't seem to be these days) it only had the necessities for a good diet and no extras. I didn't particularly like doing it but fed her on it for years until eventually had to have her put to sleep.

Our first Airedale had the same 'delicate' tum, he went on Chappie and he loved it with no ill effects, except maybe to my nose when putting it out for him.
