Gutted, absolutely gutted. Loved that guy RIP Mate x
Sad news. I don't think there's another sport with such a strong association to a particular commentator than F1.

RIP Murray, THE voice of F1, no one else has ever come close
Sad loss, RIP Murray
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Great character, great commentator, great loss.
And... there... he... goes...
He was a character who led an eventful life
Commanded a Sherman Tank in WW2
He also developed some of advertising’s most recognisable slogans.
He was the voice of F1.
RIP.
Sad news. His voice was so recognisable. Still, 97 is a fair few laps.
R.I.P Murray.
A sad day - Murray made the dullest F1 an exciting event and was one of the biggest names in the sport. The circus really lost something when he retired from commentating.
Sad news, he was probably the only reason i ever got into F1 in the early 1990`s. Him and michael schumacher who was a racing god at the time
Another part of my life gone to me he was the sport loved him and hunt together rip Murray.
Actually in tears at this. One of my all time heroes. What a fantastic life he had though.
RIP Murray.
MarkC
His voice was synonymous with motorsport.
RIP Murray
I........don’t.........bloody.........believe..... .....it!!
Have very fond memories of lovely times watching F1 in the 90’s in Sourh Africa, listening to Murray Walker. He made watching it on TV like you were there. Absolute magic of a man.
F1 icon RIP
I was sad enough when he retired. One of the greats for sure. His partnership with James Hunt was absolutely brilliant. Met him very briefly a couple of times and he seemed such a lovely, genuine guy.
I recommend his autobiography.
RIP Murray.

Wanted - Damasko DC57
An absolute legend.
I was really, unexpectedly, very sad when I heard this on the car radio earlier. 97 is a fine old age though.
Off to that Circuit in the Clouds!
Farewell Mr W.
His unmistakeable voice was the voice of F1.
He's had a long & remarkable life. I liked Clive James' quote about his commentry technique..."In his quieter moments he sounded like his pants were in fire".
RIP F1 will miss you.
I agree F1 lost its sparkle when he retired.
A decent innings; RIP.
Legend is so over-used, but in this instance it fits completely. The voice of F1 with character and charisma in spades; a complete legend. RIP.
“It’s raining, and the track is wet”
Yep, sad news, F1 was always more exciting with him commentating.
His raw enthusiasm sometimes got in the way of facts, but somehow it didn't matter.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
RIP Murray. Definitely a big influence for me being an avid F1 fan.
He also came up with some classic advertising slogans like “Go to work on an egg” & “A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play”

Always added to the atmosphere of racing.
"I'm going for first" (Explaining away a British Touring car driver putting up his middle finger)
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
