I changed a presage I used to own onto a leather strap and used the Seiko spring bars with no issues, so I think you'll be fine to just use the original spring bars. Obligatory photo below.
I have a Seiko Presage SPB165J1, and want to change the bracelet out for leather strap, I see a lot of mention of Seiko 'fat' spring bars - do I need these for the new strap or should I stick with the OEM Seiko springbars?

Thankyou :)

Not sure on that particular model but most Seiko 'dive' style watches come with the fat bars fitted.
The fat bars are generally thicker with larger 1.1mm ends and can be too big for regular straps. This can be sorted by using Skinny fat bars which are slimmer but still have the 1.1mm ends.
I'd be inclined to remove the bracelet and see if the pins fit your strap, if not the skinny ones can be sourced easily, cheap and with speedy delivery in the UK
As your model is a dressier styled watch. Spring bars currently fitted will be on the thinner size rather than fat.
Stick with the current spring bars or just replace with generic ones of the same diameter

Thankyou for the reassurance!
Hirsch nappa leather strap ordered
My pre-Pressage branding Cocktail Time has regular non-fat spring bars.
Fat spring bars will go through most leather straps anyway though :)
