What an interesting crown assembly! Is it a hip flask watch?
I have just ordered one the pre mixed syringes of lume paste from flea bay. Does anyone have experience in using them? How easy are they to use.
This is the watch in question.
The hands have good lume but there is no lume whatsoever on the dial so I want to add dots where the lume dots should be. I won’t touch the hands.
I am happy taking the dial and movement out of the case, no issues there.
Cheers
John

Speak with a recommended relumer and ask for lume sample photos and references.

Practise on printed paper dots similar size, you need the correct lume flow also.
Brave man having a go at this. Imagine when you're trying to get your drop of lume right in the middle of the plot and if you place it in any way wrong it will be impossible to recover.
Find someone who paints those little model wizards and stuff as a minimum!
I've got my fingers crossed for you though, good luck.
That’s the joys of the watch, the originals don’t have the same level of finishing found now as the were a mass produced product made in haste.
The odd sh1te lume plot won’t look out of place.
It’s only a dot as well.
Once I have nailed this I might try to relume my Patek Phillipe. Once you do one, you can do them all...
I would love to know how it's done at the watch factories.
Reluming isn’t my speciality, I often relume hands but I don’t like reluming dial plots because rgere’s too much scope for things to go badly.
I use the Bergeon kit which contains powdered lume, lacquer and solvent. It’s vital to get tge consistency correct and this varies depending on the job. It’s tricky and you need to practice to get the hang of it. Tge Bergeon kit includes an applicator which is like a large oiler, I use a smaller one for some jobs.
I have ordered a pre mixed syringe of lume, it’s winging its way to me currently, I will see when it arrives
I think practicing on some card first is essential.
As I say it’s 13 dots I plan to do. Nothing more complex than that, I am not sure I have the skills to do the dots to be honest but it you don’t try you will never know.
