It's got to be this 670 Equation of Time...https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...of-Time-PAM670
Well 2020 has been a bizarre and horrid year! For me family have sent me insane and yet kept me sane at the same time! And watches have provided a lovely escape from reality for me.
While it’s been a quiet year on the new arrivals front the stand out for me is the Navi GMT
What’s been your favourite acquisition this year?

Hard to choose, but I think it is this vintage piece from a great TZ member.

That is an easy one for me: Rolex 126655
For me this Moser.

Surprisingly probably the Willard LE 55th Anniversary. Never thought I’d be a fan of the blue dial or gilt hand but it’s become a firm favourite

Literally just landed yesterday, but completing a search that has been going for the best part of a decade. Honestly could not be happier.
Brook & Son Submarine watch
This 38mm Chronomaster. I think, for once, I’ve had more leave the collection than join this year.
I really like that Navitimer.
Favourite 2020 arrival is the 6139-6002
The watch related highlight of the year, squeezed in between lockdowns, was visiting the Heartbeat of the City exhibition at Oxford University's History of Science Museum with Rev-O and hurley from MWR. It was a real boost of positivity and camaraderie amongst the gloom.

I bought four watches this year, which is about three more than I would have done had I known what 2020 had in store for me. Consequently I had to make some very painful decisions with regard to letting some go.
Anyway, whilst all the incomings are lovely this is the standout favourite.
Bought and sold a number of watches this year. Only one winner and it’s one of the cheapest I purchased.

This. If I was going to go down to a one watch collection, this would be it!
My favourite acquisition is my only one this year, a 126610.
My plan is to do a more in depth thread about it in the new year once I can properly pull it apart and get better pictures and get it cleaned and running again.
Being interested in the development of watches I've been trying to get my hands on one of these almost forgotten watches for years. IMHO they were well ahead of their time, being not only "waterproof" but also anti-magnetic a full decade before the more conventional view of the historical narrative would imply.
The were apparently made at the request of two submarine commanders who had approached Brook & Son with a list of requirements for a watch that could be used onboard the submarine while they were at sea.
In the meantime if you would like to know more about it, David Boettcher has done some really good research on these watches.

The easy answer would be my James Cameron because it was the fruition of a 40 year ambition to own a Rolex dive watch.
That ambition took a long time & led me down some very interesting paths so I'm grateful for the experience.
I also bought the cal. 11 Monaco this year & I have to say it gives the Cameron a serious run for its money in terms of the joy I derive from wearing it. I think I'm going to have to call it a draw.

Would have been this but it was not new:
And where the Grand Seiko that should be delivered in the next 2 hours will sit I do not know yet!

It's a toss up between these 2 very different watches for me

Wanted - Damasko DC57
A blank page for me...
Stuck to my guns and not bought anything although i have just nipped in to my dealer this morning at it is unlikely i am going to get my snoopy this year.
Pleased i haven't bought.
I have both bought and sold what might be regarded, by some, as "better" watches than the Smiths Deluxe in 2020.
However, the little Smiths was first sold the day before I was born. Every time I look at it I smile and wish that I was that ageing nearly as well !
A fantastic watch of its time.
This one for me. Picked it up the week before my wedding after the better part of a year waiting, so was nice timing as well
6159-7000 from April 68, wore it 17/7 since January.
It’ is between these two very different watches

Not the most expensive and probably a tad marmite , but I really enjoy wearing this one .

It’s got to be this... I’m not usually one for blue dials, BUT!!!
I’ve had 3 great incomings this year. But the last of the three I think takes the title. A little controversial, but the Ming diver has been bloody fantastic and rarely left my wrist since I received it.

My collection grew from 2 to 5 in 2020. Like most people I was spending much more time at home than usual and for the first time ever I started to get bored of my little collection. I do love the IWC Mark XVIII Antoine de Saint Exupery I purchased in April but it's just edged into second place behind this:
Two incomings this year, and very hard for me to choose a favourite between them!
The Hamilton was a long time coming, and was passed by so often for no other reason than I couldn’t believe it could be such an absolute pleasure to wear, to feel so comfortable on the wrist, to simply look at, enjoy it’s simple but handsome features on the dial, and to hold my interest for so long!
The Muhle SAR was more of an impulse buy. I had heard very good things about the brand, so coming across an AD in Glasgow gave me the opportunity to view a decent selection of models and try on this unusual watch. The build quality, ridiculous 100atm waterproofing, highly modified SW200-1 movement, legibility and track record, all at a price that made it an affordable punt, was a no brainer to encourage me to get my wallet out!
Both watches have proved impressively accurate timekeepers, but I think if I have to choose a favourite then I think the simplicity and everyday wearability of the Hamilton just pips the SAR... but only just!

Of all my planning it was one late night shopping that turned into my fav. watch, the rare Citizen Promaster NY0040 in yelow. Surprised how actually good this watch is, especially considered it is a budget diver. But delivers all, from interesting lemon color, perfect allignment, great crown action and accuracy this is my keeper (for a flipper to say that...)

Some stone cold classics in this thread already. Only arrived 2 weeks ago, but for me by far the best of the year goes to the SLA039.
My only acquisition so I guess it must be my favourite.
A 50th birthday gift from my wife. Brightened what was otherwise a birthday in lockdown where all that was planned had to be cancelled.

Have made quite a few changes this year but my favourite is this Panerai 338
