What I never understand is why people share those moments all over social media, other than for the seeking of attention. Someone I know bought his daughter a Rolex for her 21st recently which obviously is great but felt the need to film the unboxing and share it on social media. He did the same when he bought his other daughter a Merc for her 18th recently. It was all about him being the big man and making sure people knew he’s done it.
100% attention seeking and very distasteful IMO.
I wonder if I should film my wife opening up her new Vostok on Xmas day? She actually wants an iPad but I reckon she'll be stoked anyway!
I agree, don't get it at all. I think you can kind of let them off in this instance slightly as watches are her job and she's a blogger but even so it surely would have been better as a private moment.
Yes, much. Can't compare the Friday thread or the forum in general to putting a Rolex up on FB etc. More than happy to share pics of watches here but wouldn't dream of it on social media.

Well there's 12 minutes of my life I won't get back.
She's a watch YouTuber. Her job is to react to watches and share the experiences with her audience.
There is zero showing off in this video, it's not even an expensive watch compared to much of what they show on that channel.
If it is not put on, it is cute. Regardless of showing off or not, I find it gratifying to see someone’s happiness and joy.
She already has a Rolex as we see she is double wristing with a Rolex on one wrist and Apple Watch on another.
I really like her.
What was the question again? Oh... yes I would. Definitely.
It’s all a bit nauseating though, isn’t it? Gaaaarrrggghhhh ....
I thought that was lovely, didn’t watch it all, just the unboxing, genuine delight.
Cheers..

I like Jenni Elle's watch channel - she comes across as being very down to earth and knowledgeable without being cringey. She's not acting up for the camera in the vid - looks like genuine gobsmackedness and gratitude for the present.
Given she handles these watches day in day out, by the looks of it already has a datejust on the wrist, the reaction did seem a little OTT! However, as Rajen says above if genuine, it is a nice moment.
On the other hand, more interested to work out if I can pull off an Apple Watch on my second wrist!?
I’m only 36 but I don’t get these kids and their social media obsession.
Good on her and congratulations on a new watch but the fact that she gives opinions on watches she borrows does not have to correlate with her husband making a rather vulgar and exhibitionist show of gifting. I’d rather that was kept private and she did a video later on what she liked and didn’t like about the watch.
Still, it’s not for me and I don’t have to watch it. More power to those who are into it, hope they got some enjoyment out of it.
Reaction videos, showing off wealth on social media and so many more other influencing outlets is one of the main powers driving the Rolex RRP machine.
All this type of content is creating a world where a lot of people feel they have to post 2/3 times a day to receive some kind of positive comment on their post, showing what they own or how they look, it becomes a drug of self obsession and many people are falling into debt just to keep up appearances.
We go on about the Rolex bubble and when will it burst, but the only thing that will burst it would be a complete social media blackout..
I said something similar to the wife after seeing the advert for the iPhone 12 on EE, the whole crux of the advert is to ‘be the envy of your friends’. I think that is a very shallow message.
Cheers..

I watched some of her videos, good lighting and very professional looking, she is listenable too if that's a thing.
Actually like the video and more so the watch which has now given me an idea for a retirement present next year for my deserving wife. Wasn’t aware of this iteration of Rolex and as watch prices go I guess reasonable.
Hope there aren’t “lists” for these !?
I’ve not watched the unboxing vid, but I’ve seen some of her other vids and the interview the other day with Adrian from Bark&Jack, she’s really cool and likable. Social media & watches are how she makes money so I don’t have a problem with this - nobody is forced to watch it, good luck to her.
I bet she’s a screamer
I don’t think it was inappropriate. Nothing derogatory was said about her. Just a bit of light hearted fun.

Very sweet! Check out the rest of her vids too, they have a nice tone to them.
I was waiting for the washing machine repair man to turn up! 🤓🤣
