The invisible Man
Great horror thriller
It’s not a movie, but I’ve got to recommend Barry on sky comedy - it’s brilliant!
Watched Parasite absolutely brilliant. Its South Korean so you need to use subtitles, but well worth the effort. Amazon Prime.
Watched Doctor Sleep on Sky Movies (Now TV box) last night, very enjoyable and a good sequel to The Shining.

Blockers
Parents trying to thwart their daughters’ prom night sex pact.
No brain needed to follow the plot but some very, very funny moments esp. from ex-wrestler John Cena

There is actually a similar TV thread, but it's currently languishing on Page 4.

Introducing the Kids to some of my childhood favourites. We've watched Big (Tom Hanks), Karate Kid and Back to the Future, so far. All just as good as I remember. Back to the Future Part II next.
Another vote for “Parasite”....get through first 10-15 minutes then down the rabbit hole
Spectacular writing and acting...
Can I suggest that you also watch ‘Das Boot’ to see the other side of the story.
In war it seems to me that you have more in common with your fellow combatant, even though they may be your enemy, than the heartless, inhuman politician that made you go and fight in the first place.
Maybe something to think about at this time of remembrance.

They used to show The Cruel Sea at my boarding school in Malta in the 50s.
Here's what I think is another good one.
Wore my "Panerai" watching this. :)

No, but there is something that I would like to know, and it is not worthy of a new thread.
Some time ago I saw a trailer of a film, and to the best of my recollection a couple were driving through America, and they were deciding whether to refuel at a gas station or stop in a motel based on the flip of a coin. I assume that they were being chased by the government.
I know this is a fairly awful description, but can anyone come up with a name for the film?
Thank you.
Escape from Pretoria, the best film I have seen for some time. Based on a true story.

Ready Player 1, great if you like video games and/or the 80’s pop culture.
Also Watched Dr Sleep, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Finally, The Hunt. Black comedy/action. Thought it was very entertaining!
The Gambler
Mark Wahlberg showing he's actually a very good serious actor, along with Brie Larson and John Goodman; jumps around a bit but a decent story of a man on a downward spiral.
The Ritual
Nice atmospheric horror with the ever excellent Rafe Spall; fours guy lost in the forest with something nefarious afoot.
Both were on terrestrial, not sure if on streaming anywhere.
The New Mutants wasn't bad. Not great but watchable.

I am on a roll. Two great films in two days. Dark Waters. True story about the Dupont scandal.

Dragged Across Concrete plays around with some repugnant political ideas (although it's hard to say how much the audience is meant to sympathize with them), but it's also a great slow-burning action thriller with good performances and dialogue. Not for the faint of heart, as usual with director and writer S. Craig Zahler there are some unexpected bursts of gruesome, gory violence.
Moonlight
Late to the party on this, but what a beautiful piece of cinema: the journey of a young man in a very tough environment.
Story, acting, music, directing, atmosphere... a slow-burner but simply top-notch across the board.
2 days left for the original Manchurian candidate on Iplayer.
Watched Tunes of Glory (1960) last night. First time I have seen it. John Mills is excellent at being John Mills but Alec Guinness is just superb. Brilliant acting.
Raw
French horror about a vegetarian who gets a taste for meat after a hazing at college...
Makes Hostel look like a toddler's birthday party; for extra fun suggest watching with your wife/girlfriend/squeamish life partner.
I found desperately seeking Susan on facebook last night, I didn't realise I could watch it through my apple TV, it wasn't as good as I remembered.
Double whammy last night to accompany a box of Budweiser
Fantasy Island “horror” quite fun 7/10
Ready or Not black comedy/horror 8/10
Both worth a watch!
Watching 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs' tonight (again). It drags on a bit in places but certainly a memorable film. Very good.
Anthropoid. Once I got over the accents, a very well told, intense and accurate version of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. Well worth a watch.
Great film.
If you are ever in Prague, you should try to take a visit to the church where it happened. Well worth it even though it is a little bit off the main tourist drag. The atmosphere in the building is tangible and it is a story I knew nothing at all about until my visit.
I'd love to go back to Prague. I was there for a week, almost 20 years ago, but knew little of the history at the time. I was actually supposed to to have had a business trip there in March, but stuff. If I get back I'll definitely take a visit to the church. I've read HHhH by Laurent Binet which is part novel, part history about the events. While a little too arty for its own good in parts, it does provide a lot of background detail.
And after writing this post and quick google, I found out it is also a film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhGS2jnfMus
Watched Black Klansman this weekend for the first time. I don't know why it took me so long. It's an absolute masterpiece. Spike Lee is a genius.
Watched it again the next night with the missus.
+1 for Dark Waters
Just sat and watched this and whilst it isn't full of fight scenes or explosions (spoiler alert, there are none) it is definitely one I'd recommend.
Just watched Tenet for the first time.
It's been a long time since a movie had my attention so much. Especially as it's 2hrs 50 minutes long but I have to say I thought it was worth the time.
I'll not spoil it for anyone but it's a mind bender and that's all I'll say

"Possessor" has just been released and is very good sci-fi/thriller/horror from the son of David Cronenberg. He shares his fathers love of "body horror" so you need a strong stomach at times!
