Not the best place to highjack a boat, right on the SBS's doorstep!!

Unfortunately the hijackers were brought ashore alive.

In fairness, I don't think they were hijackers. They were frightened, panicking, desperate people who made some bad decisions when put in a stressful situation. I don't think they got on that tanker intending to hijack it though I may be proved wrong when all the facts come out.
During my University Summer Holidays I worked at the SBS base down in Hamworthy, Poole. They also had regular Army, Royal Marines, Gurkhas as well as US military at that base. Some amazing blokes. I remember being in awe at seeing men jump out of Chinooks with no protective outfits - just kind of a roll at the end to diffuse the force.
Witnessing some of the exercises I do recall telling myself at the time that I was very glad not to be on the opposing side against the Gurkhas. Absolute mentalists! I'm not sure 'taking prisoners' was in their vocabulary.....

According to reports the "frightened, panicking, desperate people who made some bad decisions when put in a stressful situation" smashed glass and made threats to kill crew members, after being told they would be handed over to immigration officials.
Let's hope they earned a trip back to Nigeria.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Well, let me put it this way.
When was the last time a SBS operation was announced BEFORE it had taken place, and an almost live commentary was provided?
To top that off, it happened within 30 minutes from their base...

Maybe there's more too it than that! There could be a submarine trapped inside the hull.
Over in 7 minutes. Those Nigerians must have pooped themselves seeing these SBS black masked figures coming at them. A very pro operation.
They were heading into Fawley, empty. presumably to pick up some west African spec. Gasoil
I’ve Worked there 36 yrs
They’d not have had much chance to beat the security on the deep water terminal to get inshore, so they’d have had to swim for it at some point I reckon.
It’ll take about 3 days to load so maybe catch a lift home.

Unfortunately the Expendables weren’t available.

Shame that even this tread cannot escape politics, but we are where we are I suppose.
